  1. Search continues after baby taken in car-jackingpublished at 07:19 British Summer Time 20 July 2018

    Officers are continuing to search for a grey Audi after the vehicle was car-jacked with a four-week-old baby in the back.

    The car-jacking happened in Marie Drive in Acocks Green just after 16:00 on Thursday.

    West Midlands Police said the baby was later found safe and well, and still in her car seat, at a health centre about three miles from where the car was stolen.

    Ch Insp Tony Cole said: "We are still determined to trace the offenders who have put this mother through a 45-minute nightmare that she will never forget."

    Two people have been taken to hospital after a two-car crash in Warwickshire which left one trapped for more than an hour.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A3400 between Shipston on Stour and Tredington at 10:50 this morning and found one of the cars had ended up in a hedge and both drivers needed help in getting out.

    A middle-aged woman was taken to University Hospital Coventry with "potentially seriously injuries", and a man in his 60s was taken to the same hospital, but was less seriously hurt, WMAS said.

    Fire crews have been dealing with a large crop fire on Stourbridge Road near the Park Gate Junction in Kidderminster.

    It involves four fields and some woodland and nine fire crews have been there since 15:00.

    A cow that fell into the Shropshire Union canal outside Nantwich has been rescued in a two-and-a-half hour operation.

    And elsewhere, Staffordshire firefighters have successfully rescued two calves from a swamp near Cannock after a three-hour operation.

    Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell is still confident Perry Ng will sign a new contract with the club and says it's just a matter of hammering out the details.

    He admits he's yet to hear from the players agent, but said at this stage they just needed to "cross the t's and dot the i's" to make sure everyone was happy.

    The 22-year-old has 12 months of his existing deal remaining, but David Artell wants to get him on a longer agreement.

  15. Funeral to take place for collapsed teenagerpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 19 July 2018

    The funeral of a teenager from Hereford who was found collapsed on Old School Lane in the city will take place next month.

    The service for 17-year-old Stamford Griffin will be held at the city's crematorium on 1 August and his family have requested that everybody wear tracksuits in his memory.

    West Mercia Police says it's treating his death as unexplained and four 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old who were arrested on suspicion of drug related offences as part of the investigation have been released while enquiries continue.

    Security is to be stepped-up at this year's Godiva Festival in Coventry.

    Organisers have confirmed the whole site will now be a fenced area, including the fairground, with three public entrances to the War Memorial Park site.

    Dogs (except guide dogs) will now also be banned from the festival site, said the city council.

    The 20th anniversary festival takes place from 31 August to 2 September.

  17. M42 reopens after lorry fire is put outpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 19 July 2018

    A lorry fire on the M42 northbound, between junctions 3A and 4, is now out and all lanes have reopened.

    Highways England is asking people to take care though as the vehicle is on the hard shoulder waiting to be recovered.

    Meanwhile, trapped traffic is being allowed to pass a lorry fire on the M5 near Worcester and a diversion has been set up around junctions seven and eight, heading south.
