Neighbours have spoken of their horror at seeing car-jackers steal a vehicle with a baby still inside.
A mother suffered leg injuries in the attack, in Bordesley Green, and faced 45 minutes not knowing where her four-week-old girl was, before she was left at a health centre.
One neighbour described the manner of theft as "disgusting".
Mother and baby were reunited yesterday evening and police say they are still hunting the grey Audi A3 S Line.

Part of the M5 near Worcester had to be resurfaced early this morning, after a lorry fire yesterday evening.
The southbound carriageway between junctions seven and eight was closed for several hours when bales of hay on the back of the truck caught light.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said it caused heat damage to the motorway surface.

Plans for a 16-home development on the outskirts of a Warwickshire village have been rejected because they would have been built on green belt land.
Councillors at this week’s Rugby Borough Council Planning Committee also considered that the scheme on Hinckley Road, Ansty, would have an adverse impact on the area and were unhappy that a public footpath would need to be relocated.
Thirty letters of objection had been sent in by neighbours and the local parish council was also opposed to the plans, saying that it was an inappropriate development on land that currently formed a green buffer between Ansty and Coventry.
A man is due in court charged with dangerous driving after a police pursuit through Warwickshire and Coventry , externalin the early hours of yesterday morning.
The 18-year-old is also charged with possession of a knife, and driving without insurance or a licence.
Another car tried to ram officers during the pursuit, and an investigation to identify the driver is continuing, said Warwickshire Police.
Inspections are expected to continue for most of today at the scene of a large fire near in Kidderminster, which began yesterday and destroyed fields and woodland.
It covered an area of about 10 acres and nine fire crews were called to deal with it.
The fire, which started around 15:00 is out, but the checks are needed to make sure it won't start up again.

Stoke City are closing in on the signing of Huddersfield Town midfielder Tom Ince for a fee, believed to be around £10m.
New manager Gary Rowett sold Ince to Huddersfield last summer while he was in charge of Derby County.
The 26-year-old scored three goals last season, but scored 27 in a two-year spell at Derby before that.
Stoke are also reported to be close to completing deals for Aston Villa defender James Chester, and West Bromwich Albion's James McLean.
A man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, external, after a "long bow" was seized in Rugby.
The 39-year-old was arrested on 18 July after armed officers responded to reports of a man carrying something resembling a crossbow in the town.
A new railway station in Warwickshire will be officially opened today.
Kenilworth station opened to commuters at the end of April, following several lengthy delays and rows over who was responsible.
After closing in the 1960, as part of the Dr Beeching cuts, campaigners worked for more than 30 years to get it reopened.

A staple of lunch boxes and peckish workers across the UK - Cadbury's Dairy Milk - will come in a low-sugar version from next year.
The new bar will contain 30% less sugar, a bigger reduction than the government had requested.
However, the full-sugar version will continue to be sold as usual.

A memorial football match will be held tonight, to remember two brothers killed in a hit-and-run crash.
Casper Platt-May, two, and his brother Corey, six, were struck while on their way to a Coventry park in February.
The Corey and Casper Memorial Cup, external takes place at Allard Way, with the Sky Blues under 23s up against Coventry Copsewood.
All proceeds from the game will be donated to the Platt-May family and their chosen charities.

Three people have been arrested after a gun was reportedly fired in the centre of Leicester.
A 23-year-old man, from the city, is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.
A 16-year-old boy, also from Leicester, has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, and a 33-year-old man, from Birmingham, is being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.
There were no reported injuries during the incident on York Street earlier this month.
A vote on whether the mayor in the West Midlands should take on the role of the Police and Crime Commissioner will be held today.
A similar set up already exists in London and Manchester.
If agreed by the West Midlands Combined Authority, the plans will go to a public consultation in November.
Ultimately it could see the mayor take on police oversight after elections in May 2020.
A similar process is currently under way to bring the West Midlands Fire Authority under the control of the region's mayor.

The ultimatium has been revealed in a leaked document to BBC Hereford & Worcester, which says Worcestershire County Council isn't prepared to fund it any longer without schools paying more towards it.
More than 50 schools currently use the service, but the council says its popularity has fallen in recent years which has made it more expensive to run.
Properties were evacuated overnight after a large grassland fire spread to nearby factories in Birmingham.
Fifty firefighters battled to stop the fire spreading to houses on Green Lane, Bordesley Green after being called to the blaze just before 20:00.
Five crews also dealt with a large grassland fire on Hodge Hill Common, but have now left the scene.
