A school says it'll have to close its swimming pool permanently unless it can raise £100,000 for repairs., external
Thomas Alleyne's High School in Uttoxeter says the pool is used by pupils and community groups in the town and is a vital resource for the area.
The school says the pool's been out of action for seven months already and it would be a loss if the town where Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty was born was to lose a swimming pool.
Quote MessageHe [Peaty] has definitely inspired young people to swim in our area. We're desperate not to close the pool, the children love swimming there, we have primary schools swimming there regularly and also the community uses the pool at the weekend."

West Brom's LGBT supporters club says it's determined to fly its flag this season, despite resistance from some fans.
The Proud Baggies are one of many groups to take the club up on a new offer to fly flags but say they're disappointed that some other fans have been so negative.
Quote MessageThe club has a rich history of breaking down barriers. We just want to continue to celebrate out diversity. The negative comments that we did have serve to validate the reason for our existence. I think on the flip-side the positive comments we've had, there's some great self-policing from our own fans that is really positive and are really backing what we are doing, that's nice to see."

More than a quarter of homeless families living in temporary accommodation in the West Midlands are in employment, according to new research.
A study by the charity Shelter suggests almost 700 families are holding down a job, despite having no where stable to live - three times as many as five years ago.
The charity says a lack of social housing, high private rents and a freeze on housing benefits are to blame for the increase.
