    A 54-year-old woman also suffered minor injuries.

    The accused, a 32-year-old from Nuneaton, is charged with wounding with intent and assault. He is due at Warwickshire Magistrates Court on Thursday.

    Council leaders say they are hoping an exhibition of ceramic poppies to commemorate World War One will bring £3.7m to the economy of Stoke-on-Trent.

    The flowers have returned to the city, in which thousands of them were made, after being seen by millions of visitors to a display at the Tower of London.

    A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after two men were stabbed in a property in the Shard End area of Birmingham.

    Officers were called to Kitsland Road just before 17:45 on Wednesday.

    The two men were taken to hospital suffering head and neck injuries and remained there in a serious but stable condition, West Midlands Police said.

    The boy - known to the men, according to the force - remains in police custody.

    A teenager died and two others were injured after a car crashed into parked vehicles in Walsall in the early hours of this morning.

    Officers were called to Weston Street, Palfrey, just after midnight following reports about a VW Golf striking cars.

    A 17-year-old male from Malvern, Worcestershire - believed to have been a passenger in the Golf - was found collapsed nearby with a serious head injury and later pronounced dead in hospital.

    Two 14-year-old girls, also thought to be passengers, were hurt, with one suffering a broken arm.

    Police said the car was left at the scene and understood the driver fled. Officers are trying to trace him.

    Luke Murphy, 17, from Daventry, disappeared at Blue Pool, near the village of Bishops Itchington, last Thursday.

    His body was recovered from the water the following day.

    "He was liked by all who met him and brought happiness to everyone that knew him," said his family.

    Three men have been arrested following two "incidents" at a Rugby retail park on 7 July, police say, external.

    According to the Warickshire force, they happened near Debenhams and Costa Coffee at Elliots Field Retail Park, with each involving a group of males.

    A 41-year-old from Buckinghamshire was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage, a 24-year-old from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of causing harassment, and a 19-year-old, from Buckinghamshire, was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill.

    They have been released pending further enquiries after being questioned overnight.

    It happened yesterday afternoon on the A4169 in Lightmoor, Telford, police said.

    A seven-year-old girl and a boy, aged five, were taken to hospital along with a man and a woman.

    Officers say the children's injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

    There's good news for people living in Cheshire - what would have been the first hosepipe ban of the summer has been called off.

    The temporary ban by United Utilities (UU), which supplies much of the county, was due to start in the North West on Sunday to "safeguard essential supplies".

    But recent rainfall, cooler temperatures and a reduction in water usage has led to it being lifted.

    UU has warned that it may still need to introduce a ban at a later stage if the dry weather continues., external
