    Dominick Cunningham and Joe Fraser say they are now looking forward to competing at the Gymnastics World Cup at the Genting Arena in March.

    They were among the British team that won silver in the men's team final. Cunningham also won European floor gold.

    Counter-terrorism officers are carrying out searches at two addresses in Birmingham and a residential property in Nottingham as part of the inquiry into the suspected terror attack outside the Houses of Parliament earlier.

    A 29-year-old man, a UK national, was arrested on suspicion of preparing an act of terror after the silver Ford Fiesta he was driving collided with cyclists and pedestrians before crashing into a security barrier just before 7.40am.

    Detectives believe the privately-owned car was driven from Birmingham late on Monday night, arriving in London just after midnight.

    Scotland Yard said the vehicle was driven around the Westminster area from around 6am - more than an hour-and-a-half before the crash - having been in the Tottenham Court Road area between 1.25am to 5.55am.

    Unemployment's fallen by 31,000 in the West Midlands in the 12 months up to June - the biggest drop of any region in the UK, official figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show.

    Nationally, UK unemployment fell by 124,000 across the year to 1.36 million, the lowest for more than 40 years.

    Solihull GPs should look at ways to deal with the log-jam of calls made to practices first thing in the morning, a health watchdog has said.

    The annual report from Healthwatch Solihull has highlighted problems with patients trying to book an appointment.

    These include long waits for calls to be answered and a shortage of appointment slots.

    Karen Helliwell, from Birmingham and Solihull's Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We are continuing to work with our practices across Birmingham and Solihull to offer patients improved access to GP services, including appointments in the evenings and at weekends, by October 2018.”

    A Grade I listed bridge is being labelled an 'eyesore' by residents who say repair work still hasn't been carried out, four months after a car went into the side of it.

    Worcestershire County Council says repairs on the structure need permission from Historic England.

    But this morning, the Mayor of Bewdley, Roger Coleman, told BBC Hereford and Worcester that work should be starting soon.

    An Oscar-winning director from Stoke-on-Trent says she's trying to track down women who worked in the Potteries in the 1970s and 80s for a new project.

    Rachel Shenton's profile was raised when she wrote and directed, with Chris Overton, The Silent Child, which won the Academy Award for best live action short film.

    She says she's working on an an idea for a fictional TV series set in a pottery factory in Stoke-on-Trent.

    She told BBC Radio Stoke she wants to hear from real Potteries women.

    Three teenagers have been arrested following a carjacking in the Newtown area of Birmingham, police say.

    According to the West Midlands force, the driver was forced out of his car in Oldbury Street on Sunday before it was driven off by three boys.

    The Mayor of the West Midlands says the region will play a "key part" in the solution to a lack of house-building in the country.

    Figures show house-building across half of England is slower than it was before the 2008 financial crash, with Birmingham showing the greatest need for new housing in the UK outside London.

    A £350m boost to house-building in the area was announced by the Chancellor in the spring statement.

    Mayor Andy Street said: “In total, we aim to build 215,000 new homes by 2031 – a challenging target but one that will make a real difference to people in the West Midlands.”

    Archaeologists are hoping to shed new light on the remains of a mysterious building that's been un-earthed at a country house estate in Shropshire., external

    The unmapped building has been discovered during work to improve vehicle access at Attingham Park, near Shrewsbury.

    At first, the brick remains were thought to come from a farm building but archaeologists said they changed their minds after finding pieces of marble substitute.

    They say the man was the only person inside the car and, when the ambulance service arrived, he was already out of the car, having suffered only minor injuries.

    Restructuring company Hilco, which bought the DIY chain for £1 in May, confirmed it was planning a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).

    The firm, which has 241 stores, said the affected outlets would be shut over the next 16 months.
