    A man's been arrested on suspicion of murder after a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and, police believe, an Eddie Stobart lorry., external

    Emergency services were called yesterday to a stretch of the A38 under a bridge.

    Police said there, in Wychbold, Worcestershire, a pedestrian, who had previously been driving a van, was struck following a suspected altercation that may have begun on the connecting M5.

    A man in his 60s was taken to hospital with chest, pelvic and head injuries and died there.

    The suspect is in his 50s.

    A mural commemorating the Shropshire war poet Wilfred Owen is to be installed at Shrewsbury Railway Station.

    A consortium of local artists is being brought together to create the feature in a brickwork arch.

    Wilfred Owen’s father Tom worked on the railways and was based at the station.

    The artists involved say they hope the mural will attract national and international attention.

    Work is due to start imminently after getting planning permission.

    A man arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences after a car crashed outside Parliament is from the Birmingham area, reliable sources confirm.

    He was not known to MI5 or the counter terrorism network but was known to police.

    The suspect, in his late 20s, has been taken to a south London police station.

    One woman is being treated in hospital for serious but non life-threatening injuries following this morning's crash.

    A former pub in Longbridge, Birmingham, could become a fast food outlet under new £2.5m plans.

    A proposal has been submitted to Birmingham City Council to convert the King George V building at the corner of Tessall Lane and Bristol Road into a KFC drive-thru restaurant. It says the move will create 60 jobs.

    The pub, built in 1935, is grade II listed. Most recently the building was occupied by The Old King George Balti House.

    Some roads are being reopened, external around the site of a large wildlife in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

    The fire service says the move, at the Roaches in Upper Hulme, is to allow access to local companies.

    Last night, fire crews who had been battling the blaze since Thursday said they were getting it under control. , external

    However, they are still urging people including climbers and walkers to avoid the Moorlands there.

    The front door of a property on Hartington Crescent, in the Earlsdon area of Coventry, was attacked at about 01:30 before two sets of car keys were taken from the premises.

    The thieves then drove off in a Blue VW Golf and a white VW Tiguan.

    A woman died after being lifted a metre into the air when a cow headbutted her, an inquest heard.

    At Worcestershire Coroner's Court earlier, Senior Coroner Geraint Williams recorded a verdict of accidental death.

    The court heard that after being flipped at her farm near Worcester, Patricia Ann Ganderton, known as Annie, hit her head on a concrete floor, suffering a traumatic brain injury.

    The coroner was told it happened when Ms Ganderton tried to reintroduce a cow to a calf after they were temporarily separated for feeding.

  14. Inquest opens into death of BBC radio presenterpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 14 August 2018

    An inquest into the death of BBC Radio Shropshire presenter Vicki Archer has opened.

    Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Coroner's Court heard she'd been found dead at her home in Shrewsbury on 6 August.

    The 41-year-old had presented the afternoon drivetime show at the station with co-host Adam Green since 2010.

    The inquest was adjourned until 5 December.
