    A serious crash on the A449 near Ombersley, Worcestershire involved a car hitting a horse, police say.

    The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

    Road closures are in place on the southbound carriageway.

    Two men and three women are set to appear in court today charged with modern slavery offences following a police investigation into human trafficking.

    They are set to appear at Birmingham Crown Court today charged with conspiracy to force people into labour, conspiracy to traffic people with a view to exploitation, and conspiracy to acquire criminal property.

    They've previously denied all charges.

    The entrepreneur told the Sunday Times , externalthat £9.7m had been spent in two overdrafts set up with HSBC and Barclays.

    Mr Johnson said neither he, the board, nor the auditors had known that the firm had bank overdraft facilities.

    A woman needed hospital treatment after part of a tree fell on to a footpath in Market Drayton town centre on Saturday, pinning her underneath.

    It happened on the footpath close to the library at about 11:30.

    Lydia Baralt, in the area at the time, said she heard a "loud crack" before part of the tree came down.

    "We soon realised that someone was underneath it," she said, "and people immediately dialled 999".

    The family of a man who was stabbed to death in Dudley have described him as a "loving son".

    Christopher Harm, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene in Engine Lane, Brierley Hill at about 01:00 on Saturday morning.

    Mr Harm's family said: "A loving son, dad and brother gone so tragically and a family left in pieces forever."

    Three men were arrested on suspicion of murder.

    Two were released with no further action, although a 25-year-old man remains in custody after detectives were granted extra time to continue questioning him.

    About 200 people were in full voice in Coventry to celebrate a pilot project encouraging work colleagues to sing together.

    The workplace choirs, called Voice Squad, external, have been formed to boost teamwork and productivity, said organisers.

    They are being supported by Coventry City of Culture with choirs being created at the city council, the University of Warwick and University Hospital in Coventry.

    The driver of the van is suspected of being involved in the collision on the A45 Fletchamstead Highway on Monday 24 September, when a father and his seven-year-old son were struck.

    The 38-year-old suffered a leg injury, and his son facial injuries, that were not serious, said West Midlands Police.

    The force is asking anyone with information to come forward.

    River levels are still high on the River Wye in Hereford.

    A flood warning has been updated by the Environment Agency in the last few minutes.

    It said levels were now falling in Hereford, although rising in Ross-on-Wye, where the river is expected to peak this afternoon.

    Hundreds of Royal Mail staff have complained that they have been short-changed as a result of a dramatic fall in the company's share price.

    They claim the privatised company deliberately issued a profit warning weeks before many were planning to sell their shares.

    Des Arthur, a postman from Coventry, was one of those who complained about the company's announcement to the City.

    "The timing of it could be viewed as extremely cynical," he told the BBC.

    "It's going to look like it's not right."

    Royal Mail said it had no choice but to tell the City as soon as it realised profits would be lower.

    A man continues to be questioned after a 77-year-old man suffered significant injuries after being "badly assaulted" in a care home, police have said.

    Staffordshire Police were called to a retirement apartment complex at Gloucester Grange, Clayton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, on Sunday after reports of a man "smashing his way in to the building with a weapon".

    The victim suffered head injuries in the attack, officers said.

    A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

    A technical fault is affecting the Air Rail link between Birmingham Airport and the railway station, with only one train currently running.

    A replacement bus service is in operation, but passengers are being warned to allow more time for connections.

    A fire that broke out at a large derelict factory unit close to the scene of a similar blaze was "deliberate", the fire service said.

    Residents reported seeing smoke coming from the building on Priory Road in Aston, Birmingham, at about 10:25 on Saturday, the fire service said.

    The building, which was derelict, was on the same road as another unit which caught fire in August.

    It is due to be demolished soon, West Midlands Fire Service said.

    A father who lost his two-year-old daughter is paying a public "thank you" to the medical staff who treated her.

    Sunny Araf's daughter died in May after developing septic shock.

    She had previously been treated for a hole in the heart by surgeons at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

    To thank the team and raise awareness of their work, Mr Araf has hired out a selection of billboards around the city centre with messages of thanks.
