    A Telford chaplain has called for God's help in settling the future of Shropshire's hospitals.

    The Reverend Keith Osmund-Smith was asked to offer a prayer before a Telford and Wrekin Council meeting and said: "We pray for a fairer, straightforward system which doesn’t discriminate by location or favour only those who understand its complexity.”

    The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust is preparing to close Telford's accident and emergency department overnight because of staff shortages and is in the process of reorganisation which will result in the county having just one emergency centre in the future.

    Specialist police officers searching for clues to the disappearance of London estate agent Suzy Lamplugh have left a Sutton Coldfield home for the evening.

    She disappeared in 1986.

    The property at the centre of the police investigation was once owned by the mother of prime suspect John Cannan.

    Convicted killer Cannan has always denied murdering Miss Lamplugh who was declared dead in 1994 despite a body never being found.

    They've been out injured for the last month and manager Neil Aspin says they have to treat the players carefully, to make sure there is no recurrence.

    A Grade II-listed building in Stone has trees growing out of it and is in danger of falling down, town councillors have warned.

    Parts of The Maltings date back to the 17th Century and it was previously part of the Joule’s Brewery.

    The building has been empty for around 20 years and councillor Ian Fordham said sooner or later tiles of significant size are going to fall on people.

    In 2013 planning permission was granted to convert The Maltings into a residential block but the development did not take place.

    It was suggested the council writes to the owners, to ask if they are considering any repairs.

    The residents on Freeman Street say Red House Park has also become a fly-tipping hotspot.

    Forensics officers are continuing a search outside a house in Sutton Coldfield, once owned by the mother of John Cannan, the prime suspect in Miss Lamplugh's killing.

    He told the Mail Online , externalexpectations had been raised before but it would be nice if the family could finally have some closure.

    Evans Cycles, the cycling retailer with 60 stores across the UK, including one in Birmingham, has been sold to Sports Direct as part of a pre-pack administration.

    The bike chain had put itself up for sale last month as it sought fresh funding amid tough High Street trading conditions.

    Mike Ashley says he believes that it will only be able to keep around half of the current shops open.

    "Unfortunately some stores will have to close," he said in a statement.

    It's not yet clear if the Birmingham store will be affected.

    A Hereford man has been found not guilty of murdering his former girlfriend.

    Terri Webb was 39 when she disappeared in Hereford in November 2016. Her body was found in the river Wye, in Herefordshire, the following month.

    Ian Palamountain, 48, was also cleared of an alternative charge of manslaughter at Worcester Crown Court.
