    The body of a man has been found in Jackfield in Shropshire.

    West Mercia Police said the discovery was made at 08:45 and he appears to be in his 50s or 60s and bald, with a moustache.

    The force said he didn't have any identification with him, but was found with a Whistle mountain bike and it's asking for help in identifying him.

    Birmingham City Council has said it will continue to lobby the government to help pay for the £31m cost of installing sprinklers in the city's tower blocks in the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster.

    Council leader Ian Ward said he was seeking £19.4m from government to help pay for the retrofitting of the authority's 200 high-rises.

    He said the government was currently "making no financial contribution whatsoever".

    "We’ll continue to lobby the government to make a contribution to these costs, but if they dig their heels in and refuse we will make this investment in our tower blocks because the safety of our tenants comes first," Mr Ward said.

    The authority was told it was not entitled to £400m previously made available, as none of its high rises have the same type of cladding as that fitted at Grenfell.

    Minister of State for Housing, Kit Malthouse MP urged councils with concerns to get in touch.

    Phillip Carey, 52, said he hadn't got a sense of the police investigation ramping up or activity reducing.

    He said: “The police are being diligent. They must go through a process.

    “They want to look at this in one go.”

    He added: “It is still surreal. Sometimes it feels like ‘are you dreaming this?’.”

    He said “everyone wants to see” if police find something significant.

    Mr Carey said officers were putting in a full day’s work every day.

    When asked how long forensic teams would remain in his back garden, he replied: “How long’s a piece of string?”

    He said he has not yet held discussions about the police operation continuing this weekend.

    The Malvern-based luxury car maker Morgan has announced plans to produce a new high-performance sports car to rival Aston Martin.

    Traditionally Morgans have been built using wooden chassis components, but the new model will use an aluminium box-section chassis.

    The company says it paves the way for an all-electric or hybrid model.

    It will cost roughly the same as the Aston Martin V8 Vantage - around £120,000.

    A 15-year-old girl is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a recovery truck at Harbury in Warwickshire yesterday evening.

    Warwickshire Police said she was struck on Chesterton Road at about 17:30. The force says the area would have been busy at the time, so it's hoping for witnesses.

    The region's ambulance service is changing its name, but says the rebrand won't cost any extra money.

    Because of its new link with Wolverhampton University, which is helping to train paramedics, the West Midlands Ambulance Service will become the West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust.

    Chief Executive Anthony Marsh said the new title would only be added to vehicles, signs and other equipment when they need to be replaced.

    As we've been reporting, shareholders have approved a £15m rights issue to keep Birmingham-based cake and cafe chain Patisserie Valerie afloat, after it was caught up in an accounting scandal earlier this month.

    Shareholder Chris Boxall told the BBC he was disappointed about the amount of information provided by the management in recent weeks. But he praised chairman Luke Johnson for providing a financial lifeline for the business.

    A woman has died after her car is thought to have lost control on a bend in Warwickshire.

    The 19-year-old was travelling towards Kineton on the B4086 at about 13:10 on Wednesday 24 October when the crash happened.

    She was taken to hospital and kept in an induced coma until Tuesday 30 October, when she was declared dead, Warwickshire Police said.

    There's no let-up in police activity at a Sutton Coldfield property, in the search for Suzy Lamplugh.

    Forensics teams, which have been at the property since Monday, are still working hard in the hunt for clues in connection with the disappearance of the London estate agent who disappeared in July 1986.

    It seems there's no end in sight to the investigation yet.

    North Shropshire College has completed its merger with Herefordshire and Ludlow College, saying the move will give students a broader range of courses and facilities and secure the college's future.

    Previous plans for a merger with Reaseheath in Nantwich fell through amid concerns about long-term finances.

    Fire crews are still damping down at a large barn fire in Cheddleton, which started on Tuesday night.

    Straw from the outbuilding at Basford Bridge Farm has been removed and the fire service says it hopes the nearby Basford Lane can be reopened to traffic later today.

    A woman she feels let down by her travel agent after an earthquake struck the Greek island of Zakynthos, also known as Zante.

    A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit the island last week, followed by a series of aftershocks.

    Thomas Cook said customers' safety is a priority and the team worked as quickly as possible to visit hotels after last Thursday's earthquake.

    It also said it reached out to Ms Robinshaw to discuss her concerns.

    Forensics teams continue to investigate a Sutton Coldfield property once owned by the mother of prime suspect John Cannan.

    Richard Lamplugh said: "We would love to have closure on the whole saga. Finding a body would be fantastic but I’m not holding my hopes out too high.

    "If they find her, well that’s great and we’ll go on to the next stage, and if they don’t, well we’ll keep waiting.

    "I think the overall hope is to find the body. I’d like to see her buried where we choose to bury her.”

    They suffered a Halloween shocker last night when they conceded an equaliser in the last 10 seconds of their game against Sheffield Steelers - and then went on to lose the game in overtime.
