    A jury at Liverpool Crown Court has been shown a police interview with a teenage girl who says she was raped by a Cheshire Police constable.

    The girl, who was 13 at the time of the alleged offence said 30-year-old Ian Naude from Market Drayton asked for naked photos and texted her naked pictures and videos of himself.

    She told the court "I was petrified of speaking to him because he was a police officer but I felt like I needed to."

    The court heard Naude picked the girl up in his car in October last year and took her to a remote spot where he allegedly raped and sexually assaulted her.

    He admits sexual activity with a child but claims it was consensual and denies the rape charge, along with six other sexual offences.

    The trial continues and is due to last three weeks.

    Four men from Birmingham who admitted their part in an attempted theft from a cash machine at a Nuneaton petrol station have been jailed.

    The four were arrested whilst attempting to break into the machine at the station in Haunchwood Road, with power cutting tools in September.

    At a hearing at Warwick Crown Court on Monday Raymond Gordon, 30, of Kendrick Avenue, was sentenced to 42 months in prison.

    James Watters, 33, of Gossey Lane; Jermaine Hanno, 33, of Geraminum Grove and 28-year-old Stephen Little all received 28-month sentences for attempted burglary.

    The "serious organised crime group" was "driven by greed", said Warwickshire Police.

    Friends of a Kidderminster man, who police believe was the man found dead in the River Severn yesterday, say they don't think he would have killed himself.

    Stephen Downing disappeared on Sunday night after leaving Shrub Hill station at around 20:15 and police were called to reports of a body in the river in Worcester at around 15:00.

    A search for missing student Thomas Jones in Worcester in September was hindered after it was revealed a crucial CCTV camera hadn't been working for a year.

    Heavy lorries could be banned from using 10 roads around Bromyard town centre, under proposals drawn up by Herefordshire Council.

    It's asking people living there what they think about a 7.5-tonne limit for New Road, Pump Street, Frog Street, Broad Street, High Street, Cruxwell Street, Rowberry Street, Old Road, Clover Road and Winslow Road.

    Lorries over the weight limit, which do not need access to the local area, would be directed along the B4203 Sherford Street and Station Road, away from residential and town centre streets.

    The consultation is open for four weeks and closes on 30 November, external.

    A huge display of poppies has been created on an Aldridge street, to remember soldiers who failed to return home after World War One.

    Fifty-six soldiers left Station Road and 16 of them died.

    The Aldridge Great War Project has made the display along with residents.

    A deal has been reached between bus companies and Shropshire Council after a traffic warden issued a parking ticket in Ludlow while a bus driver was taking a break.

    The local authority said drivers had been increasingly using bus stops and stands as parking bays while they take a lunch break.

    It said this was resulting in other buses and coaches having to drop their passengers off on the street, potentially endangering them and other road users.

    The new agreement allows bus and coach drivers to stop for a maximum of 15 minutes.

    If they want any longer the council says they can park in the Smithfield car park for free.

    The roll-out of 5G won't go ahead without at least £75m of private investment, the West Midlands Combined Authority has been told.

    Speaking at a meeting of the Wellbeing Board, the director of the Combined Authority’s public service reform, Henry Kippin, said at least that amount was needed to make a success of the scheme.

    The West Midlands has been chosen as the UK's first 5G area, testing the technology before a national roll-out.

    But, if the scheme was done right, he added, it could "massively" transform the West Midlands.

    A man, described by police as "one of Dudley's most wanted" has been found hiding in his sister's attic.

    The 36-year-old, who hasn't been named, was being hunted after a robbery at the Costcutter store in Wollescote back in February.

    Officers found him when they went to question his sister and found a loft hatch had been covered up.

    The man, who has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and burglary was hiding underneath a pile of insulation.

    The proposed demolition of a Birmingham fly-over could cause two years of traffic disruption, a local councillor has warned.

    The removal of the Birchfield fly-over in Perry Barr is being suggested as part of a £523m regeneration of the area, but about 2,000 Perry Barr residents have signed a petition opposing the idea.

    Councillor Jon Hunt also said the diversions "would effectively be no access from the north, it would cut off a large chunk of the city”.

    Birmingham City Council officers are carrying out traffic modelling work and will present final options next year.

    Virgin Trains has permanently scrapped its Friday afternoon peak restrictions from London Euston to ease overcrowding and enable weekend getaways to start earlier.

    The company said congestion had eased since it began a trial to end Friday and afternoon peak restrictions in July.

    During the trial loading on the 19:03 from Euston to Birmingham fell from 113% to 39%, it said.

    The firm's commercial director Sarah Copley said: "Rather than everyone waiting for the first off-peak train on Friday evening, people can now travel whenever's convenient for them.

    A man was taken to hospital after being shot in the Great Barr area of Birmingham last night, police said.

    Officers were called to the junction of Rocky Lane with Tower Hill just before 22:30 to reports of gunfire.

    The 23-year-old remains in hospital with non life-threatening injuries, said West Midlands Police.

    The road remains closed off as investigations continue.
