    Dozens of people have been arrested and cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin with a street value of £80,000 have been seized in the last month, police in Wolverhampton say.

    The force says it's been carrying out raids across the city and parts of Staffordshire, targeting organised crime.

    In total, it says officers have arrested 39 people, aged from 21 to 57, on suspicion of conspiracy to supply drugs and other associated offences.

    Officers say, as well as the drugs, they've also seized up to £15,000 in cash and designer clothing.

    Police hunting a man they describe as one of the West Midlands "most wanted" have made an arrest after a car chase in Coventry.

    The West Midlands force say 33-year-old Kai Flynn is a "Coventry gang suspect" who has been sought since a shooting on 2 May, which resulted in another man suffering a hand injury.

    It said he was also wanted for questioning about an allegation of blackmail on 25 May and is suspected of breaching a suspended prison sentence.

    According to West Midlands Police, officers had made "numerous arrest attempts to bring him into custody" and firearms officers made the arrest at a house in the city after the high-speed chase through the city had to be abandoned for safety reasons.

    The man remains in police custody after being arrested in the early hours.

    The teenagers were attacked near the University of Birmingham School in Weoley Park Road, Selly Oak, on Monday at about 16:20 GMT.

    Two of the victims are said by police to be in a stable condition in hospital while the third has been released.

    Today, officers said the 13-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and an attempted wounding.

    Three other teens, two aged 14 and another 13-year-old, also arrested over the stabbings have been released on bail.

    Work to repair safety barriers at Shrewsbury's multi-storey car park is going to last into the new year, meaning many spaces will be out of use over Christmas.

    Around 200 spaces at the Raven Meadows car park were closed off on 23 November after an inspection found the barriers needed replacing and contractors aren't going to start the job of fixing them until Thursday.

    Shropshire Council said the work was likely to take three weeks and the parking spaces will gradually reopen as each section of work is complete.

    It encouraged people to use other car parks in the town or the park and ride service.

    The victim was walking along Basford Bridge Lane, Cheddleton, Staffordshire, on Monday evening when officers say it happened.

    A teenage boy, aged around 16-17, approached her, produced a knife and stole a silver Pandora ring from her.

  11. Butter and a lolly stick used to rescue trapped catpublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2018

    A cat has been rescued from a tumble dryer vent with the help of a lolly stick and some butter.

    Her owner called the RSPCA after she crawled in through a pipe at his flat in Kidderminster last Thursday, but she was wedged in tight, and animal collection officer Glenn Baird said he couldn't get his hand inside to pull her out.

    His solution was to coat the inside of the six-inch wide pipe with butter, using the lolly stick, and then he removed the vent cover with a hammer and gave her a push.

    "Luckily she slid right out," he said.

    A Shropshire para-athlete is due to set off on a challenge to row across the Atlantic today.

    Kelda Wood, from Shrewsbury, suffered a serious leg injury when a large bale of hay fell on her in 2002, crushing the limb.

    She wants to become the first adaptive rower to complete the crossing solo.

    Adaptive rowing is a category of rowing for people with physical disabilities.

    She's due to start the challenge from La Gomera in the Canary Islands today and could be at sea for several months.

    Kelda says she will dedicate each day to a young person with disabilities, to show them that anything is possible.

    A university student who has broken into the Worcester Wolves basketball team says the last few months have been crazy, but "I'm doing what I want to do".

    Daniel Johnson-Thompson turns 20 this week and is studying for a degree in sports business management at the University of Worcester.

    He will now combine his studies with training and playing alongside the professionals and said it was tough, but would be possible as long as he balances his time well.

    With the prime minister facing a vote of no confidence this evening, so far the majority of Conservative MPs in the West Midlands have told the BBC they'll support her.

    Conservative MPs will vote anonymously from 18:00 to 20:00.

    Since the news was announced this morning, 17 Tory MPs in the region have declared their support for Theresa May, including cabinet colleagues such as Bromsgrove's Sajid Javid and South Staffordshire's Gavin Williamson.

    Only two - Stone's Sir Bill Cash and north Shropshire's Owen Paterson - have publicly said they won't back her.

    However, there are still several West Midlands Tory MPs who are yet to declare their view or, like Lichfield's Michael Fabricant and Telford's Lucy Allan, say they'll keep their vote secret until this evening.

    The mother of an ex-soldier who took his own life said she was left frustrated by a lack of help.

    Father-of-three Aidan Knight died in 2015. He was 29 and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - telling his family he had seen too much death.

    The NHS has made a payout to the family over failings in the care of Mr Knight, whose body was found in a park in Crawley, West Sussex.

    "I wish somebody had listened," said his mother Angie Aleksejuk, from Stafford.

    Mr Knight made multiple suicide bids before he died.
