    Officers have arrested a man over a knife attack on an 82-year-old in a Wolverhampton bookmakers.

    The 85-year-old was detained after the incident at the shop in Princess Street just after 14:30 on Saturday.

    A 37-year-old man is wanted in connection with a burglary in Woodstock Road, Oxford on 13 December.

    A laptop, tablet computer and a bike pannier were stolen in the burglary, which took place between 09:15 and 19:15 GMT.

    Police want to trace Simon McLean, of no fixed abode, who is known in Atherstone, Nuneaton and Oxford city centre.

    Mr McLean has blue eyes and dark brown hair.

    The victim of a stabbing in Birmingham on Saturday was involved in a fight outside a city centre bar, police say.

    Officers were called to Lionel Street just before 02:00 on Saturday where a 24-year-old had been found with stab wounds to the chest.

    He'd been involved in an "altercation" outside the Revolution bar on Temple Street, said the West Midlands force.

    He was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, it added.

    A Christmas lunch for 90 people is being prepared in the Warwickshire town of Shipston-on-Stour in an effort to tackle loneliness at Christmas.

    Organisers of Shipston Community Christmas say they're determined that no-one should have to spend Christmas Day alone.

    The Wahegru Foundation started a nationwide campaign to donate new books and toys to The Children’s Society.

    It was so overwhelmed by the response, it also had enough presents to make drop-offs at Sandwell Hospital Children's Ward and Acorns Children's Hospice.

    Officers looking for the body of a 29-year-old man have concluded the search of a landfill site.

    West Midlands Police has spent nine weeks at Poplars Landfill Site, Cannock, investigating the "possible death" of David Willis.

    He was reported missing by his mother when he failed to return home from work at Timmins Waste in Wolverhampton on 15 September.

    The force said its search had been "detailed and painstaking".

    A man's suffered serious injuries after the car in which he was travelling left the M5 in Worcestershire today.

    It came off the northbound carriageway between J8 and J7 at about 11:30.

    The ambulance service said one man had managed to get out by the time it arrived and suffered minor injuries.

    Two men have been arrested after police seized more than 20 "quite sophisticated" counterfeit £50 notes over the weekend., external

    Police said the notes were being used in the Staffordshire Moorlands and looked genuine under ultraviolet light.

    However, they each had one of three serial numbers, rather than a unique code.

    The two men, a 28-year-old of no fixed address and a 23-year-old from Cork, Ireland, were arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and released under investigation.

    A man who died after being attacked in his Birmingham home has been named as Robert Morrison.

    The 69-year-old was hurt during a break-in at his flat in Grove Road, Kings Heath, on 10 December, West Midlands Police said.

    The wheelchair-user suffered facial and body injuries and was taken to hospital, where he died on 16 December.

    Two men have been charged in connection with the attack, police said.
