    Police have reissued their appeal for help to trace a missing Herefordshire man.

    Michael Worsley, 69, left his home in Withington on Friday, but has not been seen or heard from since.

    His son Nick has also urged his father to get in touch.

    He said everyone is worried about him and they all "love him lots".

    It is thought Mr Worsley was wearing a baggy three-quarters length jacket, grey trousers and grey walking boots at the time of his disappearance.

  3. Fan caused barbershop fire in Stoke-on-Trentpublished at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2019

    A faulty electric fan is being blamed for a fire at a barbers in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Fire crews were sent to the shop on Tontine Street in Hanley on Saturday evening.

    An investigation found it started accidentally.

  4. Masked men hunted over robberypublished at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2019

    Three masked men are being hunted by police after a supermarket was robbed just before 07.00 today.

    They threatened staff with one of the men holding a "bladed object" at the Co-op on Cressida Close, Heathcote, Warwickshire Police said.

    They stole cash and a quantity of cigarettes before leaving the premises.

    There were no reported injuries.

  5. Firefighters cut horse from stable gatepublished at 18:06 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2019

    Gemini the horse was probably feeling a little 'un-stable' this morning after getting stuck in a gate in Shropshire.

    Fire crews from Wellington, Telford and Bridgnorth were called to the animal's aid in Astley Abbots shortly after 11:00, accompanied by a vet.

    They used cutting equipment to release Gemini and took to Twitter to share pictures of their efforts.

    BBC Radio 5 Live has launched a search for new podcasting talent through an award in memory of their colleague Rachael Bland, who died aged 40 in September 2018.

    The Cheshire presenter and newsreader was a familiar voice on Radio 5 Live and won praise for co-hosting You, Me and the Big C, a podcast about cancer.

    She was diagnosed with breast cancer almost two years before she died, and had documented her life with the disease on an award-winning blog.

    Her friend and co-presenter Richard Bacon looks back on her work and how her friends are looking to build on the incredible legacy that she left.

    Hereford Football Club has paid tribute to two former players who were killed in a car crash 50 years ago.

    Brian Purcell and Roy Evans were driving to meet the team coach when they died on the A465, known as the Heads of the Valley road, in South Wales.

    At the weekend, a plaque bearing their names was reinstalled in Addison’s bar.

  8. Mobility scooter assault prompts witness appealpublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2019

    Police are appealing for information after reports that a man on a mobility scooter was assaulted in Telford.

    West Mercia Police said the assault took place on Springhill Road in Dawley between 16:00 and 17:00 on 14 January.

    An altercation is believed to have taken place between a group of around eight men and the man on the scooter, police said.

    He suffered some injuries in the incident and officers are keen to check he is safe and well.

    Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 0506S of 14 January 2019.

    Security guards are being posted at several West Midlands railway stations in an attempt to prevent fatalities on the tracks.

    It’s one of a whole range of initiatives being taken by rail authorities on 'Blue Monday' - dubbed the most depressing day of the year.

    Richard Godwin, the joint suicide prevention coordinator with Network Rail, told Midlands Today: "They are there to look out for potentially vulnerable people.

    "They act as an extra layer of protection as extra eyes and ears. They are there to patrol and look out for people who may be displaying signs of distress."

  11. WW2 pilot's family 'glad' wreckage foundpublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2019

    The family of a World War Two pilot say finding the wreckage of his plane has finally given them closure.

    Lt Cdr Ron Richardson died in an attack on the German battleship Tirpitz in 1944.

    The plane wreck was discovered in a remote part of Norway after ice melted for the first time since the crash.

    His widow Sheila spoke after a memorial service near her home in Shrawley, Worcestershire.

    West Mercia Police said a 27-year-old man from Telford has today been arrested for possessing a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause fear. He remains in custody this afternoon.

    A motorist was arrested after a man was killed in an alleged hit-and-run in Birmingham.

    The 35-year-old pedestrian died after he was struck along Wheeler Street in Newton, near the junction with Clifford Street, at about 23:30 GMT on Saturday.

    West Midlands Police said a suspect, 35, was arrested at his home address on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

    He was later released under investigation and is due to return to a police station in May.
