    Just a month after getting planning permission for a new out-of-town supermarket at Oswestry, Morrisons is asking to change conditions imposed by Shropshire Council.

    It says it no longer wants to build the cycling facilities and toucan crossing agreed previously.

    Smithfield site

    The development on the Smithfield site, off Shrewsbury Road, is set to employ about 160 people, with 100 expected to transfer from the Station Road store, which will then close.

    The site was once earmarked for a £45m leisure development, but it collapsed when Cineworld withdrew its interest.

    The meeting to make a decision on the future of Shropshire's hospitals is now under way.

    A panel of 15 members of the NHS Future Fit panel is debating a recommendation to make Shrewsbury the county's centre for emergency medicine and Telford a centre for planned treatment.

    Three teenagers have been arrested after a 100mph police chase in Warwickshire this morning.

    Officers were responding to reports of a 17-year-old being robbed in Queen's Road, Nuneaton, at 12:24 and started the pursuit after spotting what they called a "suspicious vehicle" on the A46 near Coventry, which failed to stop.

    The car was chased down the wrong side of the A45 and ended when they used a chain of metal spikes, known as a stinger to burst its tyres.

    A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old from Solihull and an 18-year-old from Studley are being held in custody on suspicion of robbery and other offences.
