    A man suffered serious knife wounds after burglars broke into his house and demanded his car keys.

    The "horrific" attack happened at a house in Bermuda Village, Nuneaton, shortly after midnight, police said.

    The man, in his 30s, suffered injuries to his back, chest and leg which police describe as life-changing.

    The offenders could not find the key and fled the scene with a mobile phone.

    Det Insp Paul Thompson from Warwickshire Police said: "This was a terrifying and horrific attack on a man in his own home that has left him with extremely serious injuries."

    An appeal has been made to a community to help, after work by a boy to clean up his local park.

    Four-year-old Parker Lawrie learned at school about the effects of litter on wildlife and he has been doing a daily litter pick with his mum in Rushall, Walsall.

    Mum Chelsea Walla says: "It's just so bad that we found we couldn't do it on our own. So we thought we need help from our community and friends."

    They are now asking on social media for people to get involved with 'Pick up with Parker' - an anti-litter campaign to tidy up local woodland.

    David Price says Birmingham boxer Kash Ali chose to bite him because he "wanted to get thrown out" of their all-British heavyweight bout in Liverpool on Saturday.

    A bite mark was visible on Price's skin.

    Ali has had his boxing licence suspended pending a hearing and his fight purse withdrawn.

    Price, 35, used to spar with Ali and said the bite was "out of character" for the 27-year-old.

    "It was weird, I was in shock," Price told BBC Sport.

    Ali will appear in front of the British Boxing Board of Control's central area council on a date yet to be set.

    He told iFL TV: "I had him hurt in the fifth. I could have stopped him, which I would have. We ended up wrestling down anyway and it was a stupid thing what I did. It was ridiculous - there are no excuses for it."

    Police investigating reports of a sexual assault on board a train between Stafford and Nuneaton have arrested a man.

    An incident was reported to British Transport Police (BTP) on 1 March.

    A 30-year-old man from Stafford has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault by touching.

    He has since been bailed pending further inquiries, BTP says.

    A new 120-place school for pupils with special educational needs could be built in Shropshire.

    Plans for the new school in Bowbrook, Shrewsbury, are currently being drawn up as Shropshire Council bids for government funding.

    The council said the school was much-needed, with 6,112 children identified as having special educational need in the county.

    The authority is now asking for a trust to come forward to bid to establish the school as the plans move to the next stage in bidding for funding.

    A fresh appeal has been issued after a cyclist died following a collision with a pedestrian in Warwickshire.

    The incident happened on Tachbrook Street, Leamington Spa, on 21 March.

    The cyclist, a 30-year-old man, sustained serious head injuries and later died in hospital, police said.

    Officers have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

    A teenager has been arrested after a stabbing at a flat in the West Midlands.

    Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Waterloo Road, Smethwick, shortly before midnight last night.

    Two 17-year-old boys were taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are not believed to be serious, the West Midlands force says.

    It said at lunchtime that one of the teenagers was later arrested on suspicion of wounding and remains in hospital.

    Investigations continue to establish the circumstances around the incident.

    Birmingham boxer Kash Ali has had his boxing licence suspended, after being disqualified for biting David Price during their fight in Liverpool on Saturday night.

    The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed the sanction, which is pending a hearing by the organisation's Central Area Council.

    The 27-year-old has also had his purse, estimated to be in the region of £20,000, withheld, minus expenses.

    Ali admitted to iFL TV shortly after the fight that he had been "stupid",

    Price accused Ali of biting him on multiple occasions during the contest, before referee Mark Lyson waved the contest off in the fifth round.

    The defeat was Ali's first in 16 professional fights.

    Three people have been released under investigation following disorder in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Police were called to a report of disorder in the Hope Street area of Hanley at about 18:15 on Saturday. No injuries were reported.

    Two men, aged 32 and 38, and a 29-year-old woman, all from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of affray.

    The number of dog fighting incidents across Staffordshire and Cheshire have fallen over the past four years, according to the RSPCA.

    Latest figures from the charity reveal between 2015 and 2018 there were 151 complaints of dog fighting incidents in Cheshire and 156 in Staffordshire.

    The RSPCA says it was made illegal in England nearly 200 years ago and the charity now has a specialist unit to investigate it.
