    CCTV cameras in Oswestry have helped solve 11,208 incidents over the last 20 years - the equivalent of more than one crime every day - the town's security camera coordinator has said.

    Jim Stafford was reporting to town councillors earlier this week and said it saved police and court time, because offenders admitted guilt when faced with high quality footage.

    The youngest volunteer manning the cameras is 19 and the oldest turns 100 this summer.

    The rare sighting in Staffordshire was caught on camera. Residents have been advised not to approach the animals.

    The number of wild boar living in the Midlands is unknown, but according to the Forestry Commission there are some 1,600 in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.

    The number of people visiting leisure centres in Warwick has more than doubled in four years, to 1.1 million in the last financial year.

    Warwick District Council members were told this week the number of people taking swimming lessons had also gone up from 62,000 to 133,000 since 2014-15.

    The council has a target of having 1.36 million visitors to its leisure centres in another two years' time.

    There will be extra police patrols in the Erdington area of Birmingham, following the fatal shooting earlier today, officers have confirmed.

    West Midlands Police said it was to "support and reassure the community" after the death of a 28-year-old man.

    The force said the motive for the shooting was still not clear at this stage.

    A Worcester chip shop that created battered pigs in blankets last November is now selling battered creme eggs for Easter.

    The Golden Gourmet on Upper Tything said it had sold about 80 in the last fortnight and customers had been giving them a mixed response.

    Owner, Paul Solomou, said they'd only be on sale until Saturday and described them as a "bit of Easter fun".

    The Coventry City midfielder Tom Bayliss has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season after suffering a broken hand in the match against Bristol Rovers.

    The manager, Mark Robins, said he'd been to see a specialist yesterday and had been told to avoid contact until mid-May.
