    Quote Message

We lost poorly a couple of days ago and have lost poorly again so it would be remiss of me to say I'm not concerned. We just need to learn from it. I am concerned but also quite positive in that we have still got five games left and a lot of learning to do but also a group of young guys who are desperate to learn and contribute and put in to the team

  3. Mother fears for disabled daughter over care home closurepublished at 08:46 British Summer Time 24 April 2019

    BBC Midlands Today

A mother says she fears the closure of a specialist care home in Worcestershire will have a damaging effect on the health of her daughter.

    Deborah Wood with her daughter

Beth Hubbard, who is severely disabled, has been a resident at the Rose Orchard care home in Kidderminster for three years.

The site is one of only two in the county which provides 24-hour nursing care but will close next month due to a lack of funding.

Five adults with severe learning difficulties are currently cared for by staff at the site.

The county council says it supports about 500 people with similar needs and the income needed to maintain the home far outstrips the cost of that type of care elsewhere in the county.

    Quote Message

I was so happy that I felt we'd found her 'forever home' and then suddenly, out of the blue, to be told we had to find another home, all over again, because we've done this twice before, I can't tell you how stressful it is

    BBC Midlands Today

Police officers are going to monitor the second day of a 'go slow' protest by black cab drivers in Birmingham today.

    Black cabs yesterday

They're protesting at peak times for nine days against proposed clean air zone charges in the city centre.

Drivers of high-polluting cars will have to pay £8 to travel in the city centre after the government approved the city's clean air zone (CAZ) plan.

Birmingham's RMT union said it wanted more than the £5,000 the city council was offering drivers to upgrade cabs while the authority said government funding would help support taxi drivers.

The first day of the protest yesterday saw long tailbacks and brought the Holloway Head roundabout to a standstill so West Midlands Police said officers will be sent to today's demonstration.
