A nurse who had to postpone finishing a 220-mile charity swim along the length of the River Severn is hoping to complete it this afternoon.

Melissa Compton, 39, who works in Shrewsbury, had planned to cross the estuary to Bristol at the end of last month, but low tides made it unsafe.
She began the swim in Wales in early June but twice had to stop due to flooding and being hospitalised on 23 June with a sickness bug after "swallowing sewage".
Ms Compton told BBC Shropshire she swam to Oldbury-on-Severn on Saturday and aims to reach Severn Beach from 14:30 today.
Quote MessageIt's quite a relief, I'm quite excited, looking forward to it, it's going to be quite good fun I think. We've had the flooding, I've been poorly and then I ended up on a really low tide which meant I couldn't get through the estuary properly so everything's been against us really."
