    Worcestershire's Moeen Ali says winning the World Cup with England was "a great feeling and I will do anything to go back to that feeling".

    Speaking after his county's 28-run win over Nottinghamshire last night, he said it was hard to be sitting on the sidelines for the final "because you know you can't do anything".

    The spinner, who played five games in the tournament, said the England players had spoken before the World Cup about "how much we can change cricket in the country".

    "I'm sure we have, the way we played and winning the World Cup at home in front of millions of people", he said.

  2. Council scraps plans for community lotterypublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Plans for a community lottery have been scrapped by Shropshire Council over concerns it wouldn't bring in enough income.

    The authority voted to set one up in 2017, but after taking advice, it concluded the a lottery might do well initially, but that interest was likely to drop off after the first year.

    Concerns were also raised about the effect it might have on other charity fundraising in the county and that it might encourage gambling.

    A community lottery set up by the neighbouring Telford and Wrekin Council in July last year has raised more than £32,000 for good causes in the area so far this year.

    Two men have been charged with murdering a man found stabbed to death in Coventry.

    Emmanuel Lukenga was stabbed in the leg and found in Franklin Grove, Tile Hill, on 12 June and pronounced dead at the scene.

    Matthew Brankin, 19 of Thimber Road, Canley, and Kyle Kinchen, 18 of John Rous Avenue, Coventry, have also been charged with arson.

    Two other men, aged 18 and 41, who were arrested in June on suspicion of murder, have been released on bail while enquiries continue.

    A fifth man, 18-year-old Enroy Ruddock, was charged with murder in June and remanded for trial later this year.

    Money paid by developers to Cheshire East Council might have to be returned, because the authority hasn't spent it.

    An audit report from earlier in the year found the council has been holding on to £21.2m which should have been spent on things like road improvements and community facilities and only £4m has been earmarked for specific schemes.

    Developers often have to pay money to local authorities when housing schemes are approved, in the form of a Section 106 agreement, to ensure infrastructure - like roads, schools and GP surgeries - can support them.

    But the auditors said some of the cash might have to be returned, because it had been held for longer than planning rules allow.

    A group of 10 teenagers from Malvern College have paddle-boarded across the English Channel.

    Accompanied by a member of staff and escorted by two powerboats for safety, they made the crossing in seven hours and 42 minutes.

    It was part of a three-week journey from Malvern to Paris for the seven boys and three girls, who have also been hiking, canoeing and cycling.

    They said they did it to "push themselves to the limit and to build resilience".

    A teenager was raped in a Rugby alleyway on Wednesday night, police say.

    Officers are investigating the incident which happened off Overslade Lane at about 19:45 on Wednesday evening.

    Det Insp Cindy Stephenson said: "This is an extremely serious incident which will raise concern in the local community."

    Officers are looking to speak to a woman who may have disturbed the offender and a man believed to have walked past during the incident.

    Additional patrols are being carried out in the area, said Warwickshire Police.

    Officers investigating a carjacking that saw a four-week-old baby taken are issuing a fresh appeal, a year on from the incident.

    Mother and daughter were reunited 45 minutes later, but Mrs O'Neill was left with injuries that she is still living with.

    “Eliza will be 13 months old on Saturday, she said.

    "She’s a beautiful, happy, engaging and active baby. She’s taking her first steps, chatting away and eating us out of house and home! We count our blessings every day that she was returned safely to us."

    Clare said she still lives with anxiety as well as physical injuries.

    "My achilles, back and hip hurt on a daily basis. My teeth are still numb and I only have 50% sensation in my elbow. I also still can’t fully bend one of my fingers."

    No arrests have been made, said West Midlands Police.

    Plastic household waste, destined for landfill or incinerators could be used in the car manufacturing process, says carmaker Jaguar Land Rover. , external

    The company is trialing a recycling process aimed at converting plastic waste into new premium-grade material which it says could be used for car parts and interiors.

    The carmaker is working with chemical company BASF on a pilot project called ChemCycling, using plastics to replace fossil resources.

    Pilot phase material is being used in a Jaguar I-Pace prototype to verify it meets the stringent safety requirements of the original part, said JLR.

    The chief executive of a cash-strapped children's hospice said he's "deeply grateful" for funding which will enable it to stay open until at least March 2020.

    Parents said they were devastated when Acorns announced it would be forced to close a hospice in Walsall in June.

    The hospice said funding from local healthcare commissioners and NHS England had given it a "lifeline" and time to start a campaign to raise £2m.
