    A van driver has died in a crash with a tractor trailer in Shenstone.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Streetway Road at about 11:30 and found the van had left the road.

    A spokesperson said the driver suffered multiple serious injuries and died at the scene.

    The tractor driver was unhurt.

    The Pears are putting the rise down to their success, having won the tournament last year and, on Friday, beating Sussex to make T20 Finals Day later this month.

    A new model of Land Rover's Defender has been unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

    The latest version is set to be manufactured in Slovakia. Up until 2016, the Defender had been built at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull factory.

    The firm says the new model has been designed and engineered in the UK and its new engines built in Wolverhampton.

    Police believe a car driver who died in a crash on the M5 at the weekend had left the hard shoulder and moved across all three lanes before colliding with the central barrier.

    The collision happened on the southbound lanes, between junctions eight and seven, at about 20:30 on Saturday.

    The driver, who was in his 50s, died at the scene.

    Schoolchildren who are given reduced timetables because of behaviour problems are at greater risk of being recruited by criminal gangs than those who are excluded from the classroom, West Mercia's deputy police and crime commissioner says.

    At a meeting with the force, Tracey Onslow said gangs were likely to avoid those who were permanently excluded because they would be on "the radar" of local authorities.

    Ms Onslow suggested councils should do more to monitor children on part-time timetables and that the police needed to work closely with schools to engage with those students.

    They are appealing to the event's expected 65,000 visitors to bring donations on 28 and 29 September.

    Four missing children have been found sleeping in an abandoned garage in Burton-upon-Trent.

    Derbyshire Police said officers were searching for a 13-year-old girl from Swadlincote, who had been missing for 11 hours, when they found her and three other missing children.

    The girl and two 16-year-old boys - one from Swadlincote and one from Coalville - and a 14-year-old girl, from Burton-upon-Trent, were found in the garage of an abandoned pub.

    The boys had been missing for one week, while the Burton girl had not yet been reported missing to Staffordshire Police.

    Police said each child was found safe and well and taken home by officers.

    The public is being advised of road closures associated with the Tour of Britain's route through Warwickshire on Friday.

    The race starts at 11:00 at Warwick Racecourse and finishes at about 16:15 in Burton Dassett Country Park.

    More than 100,000 people are expected to line the route as it passes through Warwick, Kenilworth, Bedworth and Bulkington.

    Fixed and rolling road closures , externalwill be in place throughout the day.

  15. Rugeley-to-London rail service to be scrappedpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 10 September 2019

    A rail service connecting Rugeley, in Staffordshire, to London is set to be scrapped - following anger from passengers.

    The hourly service connecting the Chase Line with the capital was launched as part of a recent timetable change.

    But train delays have led to services being terminated at short notice before they reach their final destination on several occasions, with passengers saying they were "disgusted" with the service.

    A spokesperson for operator West Midlands Trains said service changes were being planned but it would take several months before they became part of the timetable.

    They said: "We want to separate out the Chase service from the London service and we are looking at a Walsall-to-London service; keeping the Chase Line as a local service.

    "People will still have an opportunity to change at Walsall or Birmingham.”

    The chief executive of a Warwick-based technology company has died in a motorcycle crash, it's been announced.

    Mark Plato led Telent Technology Services on Haywood Road since its formation in 2006.

    "Mark died pursuing one of his great passions, motorbiking," the company said in a statement.

    He died on Sunday close to his home in Essex, it added.
