    Aston Villa are joint eighth and Wolves 11 in Premier League sustainability rankings.

    BBC Sport has worked with the United Nations-backed Sport Positive Summit, which will host its first conference in 2020, to compile research into the sustainability of all 20 Premier League clubs.

    They were asked to provide evidence of schemes in eight categories: clean energy, energy efficiency, sustainable transport, single-use plastic reduction or removal, waste management, water efficiency, plant-based or low-carbon food options and communications or engagement.

    Street lights on residential roads around Coventry could be turned off after midnight from next year to save the council cash.

    The city would go dark until 05:30, with the plan estimated to save about £250,000.

    However, the main roads and city centre would still be lit and residential roads would keep their lights on at weekends.

  3. HS2 set to get go-ahead despite price tagpublished at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2019

    A draft copy of a review into the HS2 high-speed railway linking London and the North of England says it should be built, despite its rising cost.

    The government-commissioned review, launched in August, will not be published until after the election.

    It says the project might cost even more than its current price of £88bn.

    In 2015 it was expected to cost £56bn.

    Members of the panel that produced the review have told the BBC that the draft recommends that HS2 should be built with only relatively minor alterations.

  4. Flood barriers ready as counties due to be hardest hitpublished at 11:27 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2019

    With river levels expected to continue rising over the next 24 hours, the Environment Agency says it is setting up flood barriers at Frankwell in Shrewsbury and Severnside North in Bewdley.

    The flood gates at Upton upon Severn in Worcestershire are closed, excluding Dunn's Lane, and the Kempsey pumping station is also operational.

    Dave Throup from the Environment Agency says the area expected to be worst hit by flooding is now likely to be further south than first thought - meaning parts of Herefordshire and Worcestershire will be the hardest hit.

    Three men have been charged with the murder of a Wolverhampton teenager, who was found with stab wounds.

    Keelan Wilson, 15, was discovered following reports of disorder in Langley Road, Merry Hill, at about 23:00 on 29 May last year.

    Tyrique King, of Chelwood Gardens in Wolverhampton, Zenay Pennant-Phillips, of Gadsby Avenue in Wednesfield, and Nehemie Tampwo, of Fern Grove in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, were all charged with murder last night.

    The three men, all aged 18, are due to appear at Walsall Magistrates' Court today.

    Nine other teenagers who were arrested in connection with Keelan’s murder have been released under investigation, West Midlands Police said.

    A nurse at Russells Hall Hospital is behind the plan to support older people, especially those living alone, who might otherwise go without a festive meal.

    Stoke-on-Trent South's former Labour MP, who was standing for the Liberal Democrats this time around, has been deselected by his new party.

    Rob Flello, who quit Labour earlier this year, was only announced as a candidate on Monday.

    Deselection appears to be over his views on same sex marriage and abortion.

    The Lib Dems said it only really became clear over the past few days how greatly his values diverge from theirs.

    In a statement following the decision, external, Mr Flello said he was "very disappointed" after going through what he called a "rigorous selection process" and feels "utterly misled" by the Lib Dems.

    He said his Catholic views were well-known, adding: "Not only do I feel betrayed by the false promises of the Lib Dems but I am profoundly concerned that people of faith who adhere to their religious beliefs are not welcome in their party."

    Tomorrow marks the 79th anniversary of a night of bombing in the city, which killed 500 people, destroyed thousands of homes and devastated the cathedral.

    After reaching 285-3 on day one, the tourists finally declared on 376-5 at the Cobham Oval in Whangarei.

    The home side ended on 285-5, with only England fast bowler Jofra Archer taking more than one wicket.

    England's first Test against New Zealand begins on 21 November.

    The Environment Agency has flood alerts covering rivers across the West Midlands, external this morning.

    It has warned that with more heavy rain to come and water still working its way down from Wales and the north, the rivers in our region are unlikely to peak before tomorrow.

    As things stand there are no flood warnings affecting the West Midlands, but the Met Office has a yellow warning for heavy rain, external across the area tomorrow.

    Cheshire East Council has been told it needs to concentrate on gully clearing and combating flooding by members of its environment and regeneration scrutiny committee.

    Work's already stepped up clearing gullies in the north of Cheshire East following major flooding in July and August, but heavy rain in the past two months has led to flooding in places like Nantwich.

    Flood barriers are expected to be put up in Shrewsbury and Bewdley later as flood warnings and alerts remain in place.

    The Environment Agency is again warning people to stay away from swollen rivers (archive image above) and appealing to motorists not to drive through flood water.

    It is stressing that it takes just 30cm of flowing water to move a car.

    Police have arrested a man suspected of letting a dog loose to fatally maul a cat in Walsall.

    The 30-year-old, who was wanted for questioning about the dog attack in Woodlands Crescent, Pelsall, on 23 October, was arrested from an address in Walsall yesterday afternoon.

    He has been arrested on suspicion of cruelty to animals.

    Ch Supt Andy Parsons, from Walsall police, said: "This was a horrifying act of cruelty on an innocent animal."

    Kate Griffiths, wife of former MP Andrew Griffiths who represented Burton for nine years, has been selected to contest the seat for the Conservatives.

    Mr Griffiths, 49, announced last night he will not stand in the upcoming general election.

    He resigned as a government minister 15 months ago, after sending 2,000 text messages of a sexual nature to two female constituents.

    He's given his backing to his wife.

    Labour is putting up Louise Walker, the Liberal Democrats Adam Wain and the Green Party Kate Copeland.
