    Improvement works at junction one of the M42 in Bromsgrove are due to begin next week.

    The A38 northbound exit and southbound approach to the roundabout will be widened and a new service road for properties facing the A38 southbound will be built.

    Officers have named a 20-year-old man they're looking for in connection with a fatal 'machete attack' in Wolverhampton.

    A man thought to be in his 20s died after the incident in Chervil Rise just before 17:20 on Monday.

    The public are being asked to help trace 20-year-old Sean Bulle, said West Midlands Police.

    “Anyone who may be shielding him through a sense of misguided loyalty, should be aware that they are committing an offence and could be prosecuted."

  5. Charges reintroduced in council car parkspublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 14 July 2020

    Parking charges are being reintroduced in all Shropshire Council car parks.

    They were suspended in March, because of the coronavirus lockdown, but some charges in smaller towns were brought back on 1 June.

    Parking in the council-owned car parks will remain free after 18:00, on Sundays and on Bank Holidays.

    More than six million pints of stale beer have been thrown down the drain across the region as a result of the lengthy closure of pubs.

    Severn Trent confirmed this week that it had given approval to tip out a vast volume of alcohol, which had gone off during the lockdown.

    The water authority said it was important that the drink was properly disposed of, with the risk that such a large amount sloshing into the sewage works could cause problems.

    The fear is that the bacteria which is used to break down waste could be “impaired” if too much booze enters the system at any one time.

    New flood defences for Tenbury Wells have been announced after the market town suffered extensive flooding in February.

    Yvonne Booth, 55, died after being swept into floodwater after her car became stuck.

    About 130 homes were evacuated.

    The cash, up to £4.9m, will go on a combination of flood walls and embankments to protect Tenbury Wells from the River Teme and the Kyre Brook.

    The government has also unveiled a new approach to combating floods in England, backing natural solutions.

    Three people have been taken to hospital, including one with potentially serious injuries, after a head-on collision.

    The two cars crashed on Heath Road, Bedworth, Warwickshire, shortly before 20:30, said the ambulance service.

    The passenger of one car had to be cut free with the help of the fire service.

    She was treated at the scene, along with the drivers of both vehicles, and taken to hospital in Coventry.

    A huge image of the Black Country flag will be beamed onto the walls of Dudley Town Hall later as part of the Black Country History Day celebrations.

    The St James’s Road venue will be lit up in the distinctive red, white and black.

    Normal celebrations have been curtailed but a series of videos and images will be shared online via the council’s social media channels, it said.

    A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after coming off his bike in Coventry.

    He was treated at the scene, at the junction of the Coventry Ring Road and Sky Blue Way, at about 17:15 before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

    Well, now you can via a limited edition Black Country Monopoly board.

    The game has been created by Mary Stevens Hospice, external in conjunction with toy-maker Hasbro.

    It launches today, Black Country History day.

    The design of the board is is based around the famous Black Country flag.

    Community Chest and Chance cards have been altered to fit the game which will take you to The Crooked House, up the cut and down the old ‘oss road.

    Extra cycle parking places and improvements to walking and cycling routes are planned in Telford with £2.6m to be spent over the next four years.

    The council says, external it wants to boost the number of people cycling, walking and using public transport.

    Plans include an extra 300 cycle parking places, inspection and maintenance of existing routes and an online tool for residents to report issues.
