    Several caravans and about 20 tonnes of rubbish have been fly-tipped near an industrial estate.

    The waste, at Chemical Lane, Newcastle-under-Lyme, is due to be cleared later by councils and a metal recycler.

    Describing it as a "major and costly incident", the authorities said the clean-up should be done in a day but the road would be temporarily closed.

    The borough council added it was considering installing CCTV cameras in the area to try and stop further fly-tipping.

    A county-wide review of parking charges is going to be carried out by Herefordshire Council.

    It could lead to to revised charges and the council said that could include no evening charges, or cheaper rates at car parks which are further from town centres.

    Charges in council-run car parks will resume on Saturday, after a month of free parking to encourage people to visit towns and city centre.

    The join project between Stafford Borough Council and Central England Co-op delivered food to 691 people in just under three months.

    The local authority added anyone still needing support can get it via a call-and-collect service from the Co-op.

    The 14th Century Booth Hall in Hereford is set for a new lease of life after being bought by the owners of a restaurant in the city.

    Rich and James Manning from the Shack Revolution have taken over the building which was damaged in a fire in 2010 and has been empty for the past three years.

    A boy's been stabbed in a park in Staffordshire this afternoon.

    The victim, whose age hasn't been revealed, was attacked in Bathpool Park, Kidsgrove, Staffordshire Police said. , external

    He was taken to hospital where his injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening.

    Officers said a teenager boy was arrested in connection with the stabbing.

    Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s Cabinet has called the level of government funding "disappointing and inadequate" and has warned about further cuts to staff and services.

    Members of the cabinet have written to Robert Jenrick, Housing, Communities and Local Government Secretary, external, to ask for more money.

    The city council has already been allocated £18.8m in government funding. Its own estimates suggest the pandemic could cost between £25-50m.

    The Conservative leader of the local authority, Councillor Abi Brown, said: "The reality is we don’t have a huge amount of things left to take that cash from."

    The council’s savings pot is about £10m and the current predicted gap is at least £9m.

    It is warning that without additional funding it will "shortly need to make the first set of very difficult decisions".

    Last week, the government said its direct funding to councils had now reached £4.3bn, through a series of "unprecedented" grants.

    In the past few months, building and garden waste, toys and 120 tyres have been found dumped around Cotwall End Nature Reserve in Lower Gornal, Dudley.

    The borough's mayor, councillor David Stanley, lives nearby and said it had been "very disheartening" to see the amount of rubbish dumped.

    "I have asked officers to consider installing covert CCTV cameras around the hot spot areas," he added.

    The council said it would investigate every single case of fly-tipping reported and anyone caught "will feel the full force of the law".

    A brewer says his industry is going to take some time to recover, despite the reopening of pubs after the coronavirus lockdown.

    Shane Parr, who runs Oswestry's Stonehouse Brewery, said: "Even though pubs this side of the border in England are allowed to be open now, we're finding a lot of them are choosing not to and even those that are, they're not as busy."

    Mr Parr said his brewery was back up to producing about half of his pre-Covid quantity of beer, but feels people are still wary of returning to public places.

    "It's going to be a hard road for everyone going forward I think," he said.
