    The woman in her 40s was hit on Salisbury Road, Moseley, at about 20:00 on Thursday.

    The driver remained at the scene and was helping with inquiries, said West Midlands Police.

    Four mobile units, normally used to help dispense flu vaccinations, are to target hard-to-reach communities with the Covid-19 jab.

    The West Midlands' weekly Covid briefing heard of lower vaccine uptake in some Birmingham areas, especially among ethnic minority groups.

    The units could be used to visit mosques and community centres, the meeting was told.

    "We hope with positive messages we will be able to catch up with those who haven’t had the vaccine yet," a doctor said.

    A man who was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Telford on Tuesday has died, police say.

    The 45-year-old was arrested at the scene in Ketley Bank but taken to hospital with a suspected head injury.

    West Mercia Police said officers stayed with him and he later returned home, having been released under investigation.

    The force said it was informed yesterday he had died at home.

    The matter's been referred to the force's Professional Standards Department due to police contact with him before his death.

    Police have arrested two people after a stabbing in Coventry city centre in the early hours.

    A 40-year-old man was treated in hospital after the incident on The Burges at about 01:00.

    He has since been discharged, police say.

    A 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

    The stabbing is being treated as an isolated incident, the West Midlands force adds.

    The incident follows a stabbing in Coventry city centre on Thursday evening.

    The medal matches for women's hockey, 20-over cricket and netball will all take place as part of 11 medal sessions in one day.

    Ama Agbeze, who captained England to netball gold in 2018, said: "It's a great boost for female sport.

    "It's great that the schedule has been accommodating and to get it sorted this way."

    A 4.99% rise in council tax has been approved by councillors in Stoke-on-Trent.

    The hike is part of a £14.4m savings plan from the city council voted through on Thursday night.

    Plans to introduce parking charges at two local beauty spots have also been approved.

    It could end up costing motorists £3 for up to a three-hour stay at Westport Lake and Central Forest Park in Hanley.

    A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in Coventry city centre this morning.

    It happened outside the Philip Larkin pub on The Burgess just after 01:00, according to the ambulance service.

    "The man was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken on blue lights to hospital," a spokesperson said.

    It's not yet known whether the stabbing is connected to another the previous evening. West Midlands Police has been approached for comment.
