The work, which started in August 2020, will see the replacement of existing 50-year-old bridges across the motorway, and the number of lanes increased from two to four.
At a Walsall Council economy and environment scrutiny meeting on Thursday Matt Crowton, Walsall Council transportation major projects and strategy manager, confirmed two further closures will be required in May 2022.

The Coventry South MP, Zarah Sultana, was told to withdraw the word "dodgy" after using it to describe government ministers in Parliament yesterday.
The Labour MP said: "It has been reported that the Transport Secretary used public money to create a departmental team that lobbied against plans to build on airfield sites, including a giga-factory at Coventry Airport.
"Disgracefully, that would mean he used public funds to lobby against green investment and jobs coming to Coventry."
But she was stopped by the Deputy Speaker when she continued and said: "From a dodgy Transport Secretary to a dodgy Leader of the House who last week tried to rewrite the rules to let his mate off the hook. This Conservative Government is rotten to the core. Is the Leader of the House proud of this shameful record?"
Ms Sultana refused to withdraw the word "dodgy", and she replied: "I don't think another word suffices the level of corruption and what we have seen from this Government, so I think that term suffices."
After being told to "moderate her language" three times, she withdrew the word.
