Road conditions at and around the airport remain challenging and drivers should proceed with caution.

Bus and coach operators have cancelled public transport services between the Airport and Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and Bath for the rest of the day.

  12. Let's hear it for our Good Samaritanspublished at 18:19 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2018

There have been many tales of heroism and plain, old-fashioned selflessness during the last couple of days.

Aside from the enormous efforts by the emergency services, we've been hearing about farmers and 4x4 enthusiasts who have been helping clear roads, tow cars and transport medical staff to hospitals and to patients.

  14. Did you miss Wicked because of the snow?published at 18:02 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2018

Bristol Hippodrome has asked anyone who missed one of the performances of Wicked because of the snow to get in touch about seeing the show in London.

The venue had initially come under fire for pressing ahead with the final three days of the musical's Bristol run after official advice was issued against non-essential travel.

    Quote Message

We'd like to thank everyone for their patience while we work with Wicked to discuss the remaining shows at the Bristol Hippodrome. All remaining performances of Wicked are continuing as scheduled. As the show leaves the Bristol Hippodrome on Saturday, we are pleased that we can present the final performances, so those customers who are able to attend, are not disappointed. We appreciate that some customers will be unable to travel due to weather conditions, and will therefore be unable to see the show before the end of the run on Saturday. In collaboration with Wicked, we are pleased to offer customers the opportunity to see the show in London at the Apollo Victoria theatre at a later date. We ask that customers contact us by emailing bristolmarketing@theambassadors.com to make arrangements with us directly.

  18. Warnings of flooding as snow meltspublished at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 2 March 2018

Flood warning mapImage source, Environment Agency
    Image caption,

Flood alerts are in place from tonight and into the weekend

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for the Somerset and South Gloucestershire coast.

It's feared that, at high tide times, and when the snow begins to melt over coming days, the west could be facing sodden conditions in some areas.

    They include:

    • On the Somerset coast "strong onshore winds will cause tide levels to rise further during this evening's tide (Friday 2 March)." There is a risk of over-topping of coastal defences.
    • At Dunster to Brean, at this evening's high tide, strong onshore winds "will cause tide levels to rise further. Over-topping and onshore flooding may occur as a result of high water levels combined with high energy waves.
    • Localised floods possible around Sharpness, at high tide times, on Saturday and Sunday.
    • Tides of up to 14 meters at the Wye Estuary and Avonmouth, again on Saturday and Sunday.
    • For the tidal River Avon at Bristol, Pill and Shirehampton: "Tides are rising and are due to peak on Sunday. They will reach flood alert criteria over the weekend. The time and date of the first forecast high water is 08:15 on Saturday 03/03/2018."
