"The sewer running under Eden Street is four metres underground and unfortunately it will take some time to dig down and begin the repairs," a spokesman said.

  14. Cambridge 'sinkhole' about 4ft widepublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 18 August 2016

    Jozef Hall
    BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

The large void that's appeared on Eden Street in Cambridge is about 1.5m (5ft) deep and 1.2m (4ft) across, and I think it could lead to a sewer as I can see some water at the bottom.

The road remains closed until it's fixed, but it doesn't seem to be causing much disruption.

Simon Bennett, from Company Hairdressing close by, says the only problem will be if the water has to be turned off, as then "we will be out with buckets of water and washing people's hair outside".
