Just to interrupt our Olympic coverage this morning, we have news that James Watson (below), arrested in connection with the 1994 death of six-year-old Rikki Neave, has been returned to the UK.

After appearing in court in Portugal, the 35-year-old, from Peterborough, has now been extradited.

Mr Watson was initially bailed until June and re-bailed until September, but last month Cambridgeshire police confirmed he had left the country.

He was traced to Portugal where local police detained him in the capital about a fortnight ago. He appeared in court where police said he was "not fighting extradition".

He will now be dealt with by the probation service, Cambridgeshire police said.

Louis Smith, who trains at Huntingdon Gym, finished second in the men's pommel horse yesterday, being squeezed out of the gold medal slot by team-mate Max Whitlock.

It was an emotion night, with Smith left in tears as he received his medal on the podium.

Peterborough's Nick Dempsey made history over the weekend, becoming the first British male windsurfer to win three Olympic medals.

Dempsey, 36, finished second in the RS:X class, following a bronze in 2004 and a silver in London four years ago.

What a situation to be in.

Huntingdon's Giles Scott will definitely be adding to Team GB's gold medal tally too, after already securing the number-one spot in the men's Finn class.

He's opened up such an unassailable lead that he cannot be caught during tomorrow's medal race.

In case you missed it (where on Earth have you been?!), it was a historic weekend for Team GB in Rio over the weekend - with Cambridgeshire featuring on the podium twice.

Huntingdon's Louis Smith (left) took silver in the pommel horse, after being pipped to the post by team-mate Max Whitlock.

It was also silver for Nick Dempsey (right), who grew up in Orton Wistow, with the feat making him the first male windsurfer to win three Olympic medals.

Will we see more medals for the county as the week goes on?

We've been bringing you news of a collision on a level crossing near Stretham, in which a man sustained serious head injuries. He was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital earlier this afternoon.

A total of 115 passengers were on board a King's Cross-bound service, but were safely disembarked from the train around 17:00.

It's understood the man's injuries are not life-threatening and rail services will remain disrupted for the rest of the evening.
