The £25m Airlander 10, which is 302ft (92m) long, "nosedived" during its second test flight in Bedfordshire.

Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) said repairs were confined to the hull and the front part of the cockpit, but specialist tools needed for some of the repairs had been scrapped by the US Army and needed replacing, which would "contribute significantly to the estimated overall time required".

HAV chief executive Steve McGlennan, said: "There are, however, no substantial repairs necessary to the other areas and systems of the aircraft which remain operational.

"In time we believe that the limited nature of these repairs will help us demonstrate to customers the robustness of Airlander when compared to other aircraft types."

    Dani Bailey
    BBC Local Live

"Ta-ta everybody" - that's what Berkhamsted PE teacher Candice Brown said after her showstopper was judged in this week's Bake Off.

The contestant, who lives in Barton-le-Clay, made an Italian light and dark rye twist for this week's challenge, which had to consist of plaited loaves and three different flours.

After much kneading and proving, Candice's impressive bake was ready to be judged.

Paul Hollywood, ever the sympathetic arbiter, described the top loaf as "a mess", saying she just needed to "work the dough a bit more".

This seemed to be where it all began to crumble and Candice was convinced that had sealed her fate.

Bedfordshire's Candice Brown kneaded to prove (sorry) herself after winning the accolade of Star Baker last week, and the pressure did seem to get to her.

For the signature challenge, bakers were asked to make a chocolate bread and Candice opted to make a very luxurious-sounding chocolate, salted caramel and pecan brittle brioche.

"No-one likes a small, under-filled ball," Candice said as she packed her dough full of caramel.

After that light-hearted beginning, the heat really was on and it was quite a tense finish...
