  1. Could improvements to roads in the East be scrapped?published at 10:24 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March 2017

Upgrades to some of England's busiest roads  could be scrapped because they are not value for money .

The National Audit Office (NAO), which scrutinises government spending, said plans for 16 routes across the country were on hold.

It's not yet known what routes are being reconsidered, but the government's current grand plan includes £300m of improvements to the A47, between Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

Also included on the list is plans to improve electronic signage, emergency roadside telephones and CCTV cameras on the M11 between Stansted Airport and Cambridge.

All upgrades were outlined as part of the  Five-year Road Investment Strategy, external , which featured 112 major projects set to begin before 2020.

However, neither the NAO or Department for Transport have specified which upgrade schemes are at risk.

It's only the second such project in the country - the other is based at Aintree.

Mark Kirby, from the school, said: "I believe she's coming to see the school because we've been doing so well.

"We hope that the school is a school that the community can be incredibly proud of, and hopefully it's recognition of all our hard work here.

"We are a good school and we look forward to showing that to the duchess today."

Camilla will also unveil a statue of King Charles II at Newmarket's Rowley Mile racecourse.

A rapist has been moved from a Cambridgeshire prison to a women-only jail after having gender reassignment surgery to become female.

Before her gender reassignment, Winfield complained of being victimised for being a male transsexual.

Ten years ago, she  wrote to prisoners' newspaper  Inside Time to say she was given a "hard time because of my sexuality, possibly through lack of understanding and empathy".

But one of Ponting's victims has described the fact he was allowed a sex change as  "diabolical", external .

"He may have changed physically but his brain is still the same," she told The Sun newspaper.

The Prison Service has said it does not comment on individuals.

  20. What does Freedom of the City get you?published at 13:44 Greenwich Mean Time 21 March 2017

    Adam Jinkerson
    BBC Local Live

Earlier we brought you news that three Peterborough-based sporting heroes will be given Freedom of the City in a ceremony later today.

Gymnast Louis Smith, Paralympic rower James Fox, and wheelchair basketball star Lee Manning are set to become Freemen.

But as we've recently revealed, that doesn't allow them to herd their flock of sheep through the streets.

So what does the honour entail?

Well, a spokesman for Peterborough City Council told us "in today's modern times no real privileges are associated with the award".

"However, the Freedom of the City is nevertheless regarded as the greatest tribute that a local authority can bestow upon an individual or organisation and the recipients are thereafter referred to as Freemen," he said.

    Freedom of the City myths

Freemen Smith, Fox and Manning may about to be given the highest honour by a council, but unfortunately they won't be able to exercise some of these common Freeman myths...

    • Being exempt from taxes
    • Being free from arrest
    • Being above the power of the government

    Sorry lads.
