  2. Crackdown on BBQ use in citypublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 16 May 2017

    Sara Varey
    BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

Enforcement officers at Cambridge City Council will be cracking down on people who are leaving scorch marks on green spaces by not using dedicated barbecue spaces in the city.

    Scorch mark on grass

Last year the council installed some barbecue stones near the bandstand area on Jesus Green, plus a dedicated bin for their safe disposal.

But it seems people are already choosing to ignore the warnings and use grassy areas, something which council officers say is a fire threat.

Anna Smith, Labour's Cambridge City councillor responsible for streets and open spaces, said it's "something that we notice quite a lot".

"With scorch marks, it takes an awful lot of time for the grass to recover," she said.

"We're not in a position or able to issue fixed penalty notices and we're certainly not planning to take people to court for it. But it isn't something we've found we've needed to do. We very rarely find people are not co-operating.

"It is about just educating people to go to the right places."

    Jozef Hall
    BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

Earlier we brought you news that several GP surgeries across Cambridgeshire were still experiencing difficulties with their computer systems due to last week's cyber attack.

I've spent the day at Riverside Practice in March which has been experiencing problems.

Dr David Donovan said it had been "stressful".

"The internet keeps crashing, we can't do any dictation, access results or order blood forms," he said.

"We had a patient who tried to get a cancer appointment - he couldn't. That engendered a lot of anxiety.

"As always it's communication. When it breaks down we have issues.

"We spoke about [the threat] across the weekend and we did have a disaster recovery plan in place using laptops and public NHS wifi, but if we hadn't put that work in on Sunday it could've been much worse."

Dr Donovan confirmed the surgery was back up and running by early afternoon.

As pre-season fixture lists for both Peterborough United and Cambridge United start to form, I've been doing a bit of number crunching over last season's attendances at the Abax Stadium and the Cambs Glass Stadium.

The Posh saw a slight increase in fans attending league home matches compared to the previous season, with an average attendance of 5,581. That's about 130 more people per game.

Earlier we reported problems were still continuing at surgeries in places including Cambourne, March and Ely.
