It has 267 residents living 1,750 miles from Cape Town in the South Atlantic.

  3. Migrating eels get 'leg up' with special ladderpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 22 July 2016

You wouldn't think eels had much use for ladders, but every migrating species needs a 'leg up' now and again.

A 'ladder', or 'eel pass', is being installed on the weir at Warwickshire's Charlecote Park. It's made from narrow steel tubes that allow the animals to wriggle their way up.

Without it, eels in the Avon would be cut off from habitats in the river Dene.

The £3,000 scheme to promote biodiversity is overseen by the Environment Agency and National Trust.
