    With former Sky Blues player Sam Allerdyce set to become England manager, it means all four home nation teams have a Coventry City connection.

    Wales boss Chris Coleman managed the club between 2008 and 2010 and Scotland's Gordon Strachan played for and managed the Sky Blues.

    Northern Ireland's Michael O'Neill appeared for Coventry City five times during his two years with the club.

    Experts looking at why apes are susceptible to heart disease while in the care of humans believe it's not linked to poor diet.

    It's hoped the project at Twycross Zoo will uncover the specific type of heart disease affecting the animals.

    Dr Victoria Strong, from the University of Nottingham's School of Veterinary Medicine and Sciences, said: "At the moment we're unsure why great apes in human care develop heart disease."

    The government is being urged to give rail companies longer contracts in an effort to improve the standard of service to passengers. 

    It comes as Chiltern Railways celebrates its 20th anniversary, having spent more than £600m on improvements. 

    Chiltern, which runs trains in the West Midlands and Warwickshire, currently has a 20-year franchise, one of the longest ever awarded to a rail company.

    The former manager of a children's home in Nuneaton has gone on trial accused of historical sex abuse of children.

    Robert Brown, who's 68 and from Caistor-on-Sea in Norfolk, denies 23 charges of indecent assault and cruelty in relation to eight children at the Manor Court home in the 1970s.

    Water hydrants in the Wood End area of Coventry have been illegally opened, external, leading to a loss of water supply, says Severn Trent.

    The company has issued a warning after customers in the area complained about problems with not only supply but discolouration.

    It says illegal hydrant use is a particular issue during hot weather and wastes a "huge amout" of water and can also cause problems for fire and rescue services.

    A 'garden village' comprising 2,000 new homes could be built on the site of the Long Marston Airfield in south Warwickshire.

    An expression of interest , externalis to be submitted by Stratford District Council for the new settlement before the deadline of 31 July.

    The council says the government scheme , externaloffers infrastucture funding for developments that meet certain criteria, such as building at brownfield sites.

    Previous plans for a 6,000 dwelling eco-town on the site were turned down.
