    Bill Etheridge is in the running for the UKIP leadership to succeed Nigel Farage. 

    Mr Etheridge says he was simply using Hitler as an example of a good public speaker.

    Siôn Simon is Labour's candidate for West Midlands Mayor, the party has announced.

    The metro mayoral election for the West Midlands is due to take place in May 2017.

    Labour are the first party to announce their candidates, both the Conservatives and UKIP have told me they’re not as far along in the process yet.

    There was an initial shortlist of five candidates for Labour, but after a selection process it came down to Steve Bedser, a former Birmingham councillor who has also worked as communications officer for the party, and Sion Simon, former Birmingham MP and current West Midlands MEP.
