  4. Lego Godiva: Art gallery sees hike in visitor numberspublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

    More than 18,000 people have visited Coventry's Herbert Art Galley and Museum, external to see an exhibition of small plastic bricks. 

    A touring display of models made from Lego is on display and features a re-creation of John Collier's famous painting of Lady Godiva.

  5. No new speed cameras for Coventrypublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

    West Midlands Police, external will be switching on eight new speed cameras across the region on Monday. 

    It's after a joint effort by the force and Birmingham and Solihull councils, which means none of the new devices will be situated in Coventry. 

    Currently only mobile cameras are used in the city and the council says it has no plans to establish any new permanent sites. Cameras in the region were turned off three years ago as part of a money-saving drive.

    Across Warwickshire there are 32 fixed cameras, 10 red light cameras and 107 mobile camera sites.

    A toddler group in Coventry has benefited from a four-figure donation allowing it to update its facilities. 

    The St Alban’s Angels parent and toddler group at St Alban’s Church, external in Stoke Heath received £1,900 from the Coventry law firm Band Hatton Button, external via the Heart of England Community Foundation.

    The group used the money to create a brand new messy play area and buy a toy storage cupboard.

    Traffic wardens can be tough people from whom to get  a smile - but that wasn't the case with this one in Leamington Spa.

    Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, external were responding to a call and had to land on the Pump Room Gardens on Thursday morning. 

    Lawrence Baker from the Leamington Observer , externalnewspaper was in the right place at the right time and managed to snap the warden's light touch. 

    An Air Ambulance spokesperson said; "Our crew saw the funny side of the ‘ticket’ and had a laugh with the traffic warden."

    Fly-tippers left this household waste in Maxstoke.

    The first Midlands competitor will get their Olympic campaign under way today, even before the Opening Ceremony has taken place. 

    Naomi Folkard from Leamington Spa is taking part in the archery at her fourth Games. 

    The 32-year-old is involved in the 'ranking round' which decides who she'll meet in the knockout stages. Arrows fly from 17:00 BST.
