Paramedic calls for prison sentences for attackerspublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 4 October 2016
A West Midlands Ambulance paramedic says the courts aren't tough enough with people who attack members of the emergency services.
Mick Duggan, who'd been attacked in the past, thinks prison should be mandatory, with a minimum sentence of 12 months.
He says a certain level of abuse is expected from people with metal health issues, but others cross a line.
Quote MessageWhat isn't acceptable is drunkenness, drug use and people who use their mental health problems as an excuse to behave like that. You know the difference between right and wrong, you should know it's not acceptable to punch a paramedic in the face, to kick a paramedic."
