  4. Watch: History of housing plans for Wellesbourne Airfieldpublished at 11:25 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

Demolition plans for some buildings at Wellesbourne Airfield have renewed concerns among campaigners that new houses will be built at the site, turning a village into a town.

Stratford District Council, to which the demolition proposals have been submitted, says there is no date for works, should they happen. Previously, the authority turned down plans for 1,600 new homes at the site, pledging to preserve it for aviation.

But campaign group Wellesbourne Matters says a loss of buildings limits the potential for flights from the site.

Housing plans date back to 2014 when BBC Midlands Today's Sarah Falkland visited to give an overview of the issues.

  6. Demolition plans for Wellesbourne Airfieldpublished at 10:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

Plans to demolish a number of buildings at Wellesbourne Airfield pose a risk to its current use, say campaigners who are against new homes being built on the site.

An application for demolition has been received by Stratford District Council.

Plans for 1,600 new homes on the site were turned down by the authority when the site was left out its housing strategy amid a pledge to preserve the location for aviation purposes.

But campaign group Wellesbourne Matters says if demolition plans are realised, it will make it difficult to maintain flying from the site.

The council says there is no date for demolition works as a number of conditions will first need to be satisfied.
