    A Coventry school has banned energy drinks because of their "negative effects".

    Parents of students at Stoke Park School were informed by way of a text at the beginning of this term, with the school also tweeting details of the ban.

    In a statement, the British Soft Drinks Association says makers of energy drinks "provide caffeine content on all labelling" and "market their products responsibly".

    The secondary school has declined to comment further.

  5. Lower benefit cap 'will hit 2,800 children'published at 10:24 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2017

    The homes of thousands of children in Coventry will lose hundreds of pounds a month under a new lower cap on benefit payments, external which starts in April, the council has warned.

    Up to 800 families could see their benefits changed, "plunging 2,800 children into poverty" according to Cllr Rachel Lancaster.

    She says the "heavy handed" benefit cap "will just leave people in dire need".

    The move was announced last year by former Chancellor George Osborne who said it was "not fair" that people out of work could earn more than those in work.
