  1. Man's bone cancer diagnosis 'followed cancelled ops'published at 15:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 March 2017

    A Warwickshire man who's suffered years of agony with hip pain, is terminally ill with bone cancer. 

    David Kinnie, 34, was first told that he had an irregular hip joint and had two operations that might have found the tumour, cancelled. 

    Hannah Birkett from the Bone Cancer Research Trust said late diagnosis for bone cancer is an issue.

  2. Police pursuit ends in crashpublished at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 21 March 2017

    A 52-year-old has been taken to hospital after a collision in Bedworth, the ambulance service says.

    The crash happened around 10:00 at the junction of Colombia Gardens and Bulkington Road, closing the roads for a time. 

    Warwickshire Police says one of the vehicles was involved in a police pursuit prior to the crash and the driver took off on foot.

    The roads have now re-opened and no arrests have been made.

    Coventry job seekers are set to benefit from £7.6m of EU funding to support them into work, education or training, the city council says.

    Three schemes will run in the city until December 2019 which, the council says, will support targeted groups of people in the city.

    Councillor Jim O'Boyle, who's in charge of jobs and regeneration in the city, said the funding meant about 5,000 people a year would be helped.

  4. Inquiries into bus crash 'on-going'published at 13:27 Greenwich Mean Time 21 March 2017

    The house, hit by a bus in Coventry yesterday, has been secured by structural engineers and is now being dealt with by the owner's insurance company, says the city council.

    West Midlands Fire Service crew commander Peter Sheppard said the crash had "knocked the building off its footing", causing the house to move "a couple of inches".  

    Police said inquiries were on-going, and in a statement, National Express Coventry said staff were "co-operating closely with the authorities in their investigations into this incident".

    Ceilings in all the rooms collapsed and the house was knocked off its footing, the fire service says.

    An exhibition opens in Leamington Spa today aimed at challenging preconceptions of Down's syndrome, say organisers.

    Nicola Enoch, founder of The Ups of Downs group behind the show, external - 'this child can' - said she hopes the 27 images of children with the condition shows people that they can live "normal lives, like any other children".

    The images are on display at The Royal Spa Centre in Leamington to coincide with World Down Syndrome Day, and will then tour other venues across Coventry and Warwickshire.

  7. Police search for driver who fled crash scenepublished at 12:02 Greenwich Mean Time 21 March 2017

    Officers are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a collision in Bedworth, police say. 

    Paramedics are treating one man for injuries at the junction of Columbia Gardens and Bulkington Road, after the crash which happened around 10:00.

    One replied to him that the tweet was in "v bad taste", and another: "imagine wakin up 2 your house being horrifically damaged". 

    But many just said how much they were looking forward to his show at the Ricoh later this year.

    No one was seriously hurt in the incident, and police are continuing their investigation.

    A woman was taken to hospital after her car collided with a van near to Stoneleigh Park, say the ambulance service.

    Coventry City could play home games at Butts Park Arena, according to club chairman, Tim Fisher.

    He told a meeting with fans' group The Sky Blue Trust last night that the Coventry Rugby Club chairman was backing the move and the Football League were also involved in trying to make it happen.  

    Last year a deal was brokered for Coventry United to share the ground , they are due to play their home matches there from next season.

    Six children were injured in a crash involving two cars on Exhall Road in the Keresley area of Coventry, police say., external

    The collision happened around 19:30 on Saturday causing minor injuries to the six, aged 4-13 years, who were travelling in one of the vehicles.
