    The NHS is proposing changes to stroke services in Coventry & Warwickshire.

    It's asking for feedback on proposals to treat all Stroke patients at Coventry.

    Patients would still be rehabilitated at George Eliot but services at Warwick would be moved to Leamington.

    The GP group responsible for commissioning care says the plan would offer the best possible outcomes for patients.

  2. Traffic warning issued ahead of Kenilworth Horse Fairpublished at 08:42 British Summer Time 26 July 2017

    A warning about extra traffic around Kenilworth Horse Fair has been issued by the police in Warwickshire.

    Traffic management plans are to be put in place around the junction with the A46 Warwick bypass and the A456 Leamington Road, the force said.

    A scheme helping to provide employment support for people with disabilities, including mental ill health, will continue for a further two years if councillors agree to match-fund European money, Coventry City Council says.

    The Employment Support Service (TESS) helps between 25 and 35 people into work, and a further 100 to sustain employment, each year.

    Councillors will discuss covering 50% of the cost of the service at a meeting on 1 August., external

    Cllr Jim O'Boyle, responsible for jobs and regeneration, said it was vital the authority made sure that TESS – to be renamed the Disability Employment Support Service – continued to help those who would otherwise find employment opportunities limited.

    A ten-year-old cyclist has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car which may have failed to stop, the ambulance service says.

    It happened at the junction of Langbank Avenue and Willenhall Lane in the Binley area of Coventry at about 13:00.

    A girl was treated for grazes before being taken to University Hospital.

    An ambulance service spokesman said there was no car at the scene when staff arrived.

    The 51 year old from Atherstone achieved his first major title in 2016 with his two-shot win over Spain's Miguel Angel Jiminez.

    He said there was a lot of talent in the field and needed to set his sights high if he was to enjoy more success.

    GMB members at Coventry City Council are to vote on strike action over plans to close 14 children's centres with the loss of up to 100 jobs, the union says.

    GMB organiser Justine Jones said some members had been served their notice today, "before the end of the consultation" process, which had made them "extremely upset and frustrated".

    The union said issues around closing the centres had been raised through the council's grievance procedure but the council had "refused" to hear them.

    The Sky Blues have announced their squad numbers for the forthcoming season.

    Goalkeeper Lee Burge retains the number one jersey while seven of Mark Robins' summer signings are included in the first 11, with striker Max Biamou the new number nine.

    There's no place on the list for out-of-contract George Thomas, but Jordan Turnbull and Kyel Reid have been included despite looking for alternative clubs.

    Two men have been charged with a fraud offence after a card-reading device was found on a cashpoint machine in Stratford-upon-Avon, police say., external

    According to the Warwickshire force, an off-duty police officer spotted the skimming device while using the machine in Rother Street on Sunday 23 July.

    Two men, both 38, from London and Essex, were charged with being in possession / control of an article for use in fraud. They are due to appear before magistrates in Leamington Spa today.

    The University of Warwick has welcomed the government's announcement that it's to shake-up the energy industry, but warned that overseas competition in the market is fierce.

    Business Secretary Greg Clark outlined details of a competition for innovation in battery technology, which he said would help make the UK a world leader in battery design and manufacture.

    The university's Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) is proposing to develop a National Battery Prototype Centre.

    Professor Lord Bhattacharyya from WMG said he believed the technology they produced was of a much better quality than overseas but the competition could "quickly catch up".
