    Writing for the Conservative Home blog the MP said he's been reading "weekend after weekend of ridiculous stories as individuals and their allies seek to position themselves to be next in line to reside in Number 10".

    He wrote: "Those who fancy themselves as being the next great saviour, and those who wish to support them, would do well to recognise the situation our country is in, put self-interest aside and start putting the national interest first.

    The party now needs to "work together", and "get on with delivering a good Brexit deal".

    The driver of a double decker bus that crashed into a Coventry branch of Sainsbury's has been charged with causing two people's deaths by dangerous driving.

    Kailash Chander, 79, has also been charged with two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

    Passenger Rowan Fitzgerald, seven, died when the bus crashed into the supermarket on Trinity Street in October 2015.

    Pedestrian Dora Hancox, in her 70s and from Nuneaton, was also killed.

    The Crown Prosecution Service says Mr Chander's employer, Midland Red (South) Limited, has been charged with two offences under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

    Both parties are due to appear before magistrates in Coventry in September.

    Sisu had hoped to bring about a fresh judicial review over the council's sale of its share of the Ricoh Arena to Wasps.

    But earlier this month, a judge at the High Court in Birmingham rejected Sisu's three arguments - permission to amend a claim form, permission for a judicial review and permission for expert evidence to be introduced.

    The club said its staff would "continue as ever to work with ACL/Wasps and its staff to ensure the smooth running of the Sky Blues’ matchdays at the Ricoh Arena", adding they were not liable for any further court costs.

    Police have been dealing with reports of a man with a firearm at a property in Water Orton.

    In a statement, external, the Warwickshire force said armed officers were deployed to the scene and after a search, no guns had been discovered.

    Chief Inspector Jamie Dunn said: "While investigations are ongoing, at this stage we have not been able to identify that an offence has occurred or that there was any risk to the public."

    Birmingham Road was partially closed from 09:30 this morning.

    A driver was lucky to escape from his car when it left the road and plunged into water in Bedworth yesterday afternoon, say firefighters.

    The ambulance service said it was called to the scene at about 16:50 on Bulkington Road and one man was checked over but not believed to have been injured.

    Warwickshire Police says the incident is over and investigations continue.

    A Coventry woman has been charged with terror-related offences, West Midlands Police says.

    According to the force, Sandeep Samra, 18, from Alder Road, has been charged with "being concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism".

    Her alleged activity is said to have happened between 7 June and 6 July this year.

    She was arrested by detectives from West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit on 18 July.

    Ms Samra is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates Court this afternoon.

    The total retail value of illegal tobacco seized across the region is estimated to be worth in excess of £2.5m.

    The city council's deputy leader Cllr Abdul Khan said about 500,000 cigargettes and 93kg of tobacco were discovered in the most recent seizure.

    The team behind Coventry's bid to become City of Culture 2021 has launched plans to increase black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) participation in the arts in the city by 20%.

    One project already commissioned is Tale of Two Streets - a two-year photographic project exploring the diverse communities that live and work on two historic streets in the city.

    Dr Ben Kyneswood from Photo Archive Miners, which is curating the project, said the scheme would "encourage photographers to immerse themselves in one of the UK’s most diverse and integrated cities.

    "They will be collaborating with residents to understand local connections and tensions, and tell narratives of what diversity in the UK looks like today.”
