  5. Police offer tips for those caught in floodspublished at 19:46

Carlisle Police have some friendly words of advice to those caught up in the floods. They say:

    - Feeling distressed and anxious after being flooded is normal. Get the support of family and friends and give support to neighbours if you can

    - Don’t use petrol or diesel generators indoors to dry out your home. The exhaust gases contain dangerous levels of carbon monoxide

    - When cleaning up, make sure you wear rubber gloves, boots and eye protection, and wash your hands afterwards
