  2. Weather: How much more rain is expected overnight?

    Further rainfall is expected to arrive across much of Cumbria during the evening.

    The rain will become persistent and heavy at times, mainly over high ground, before clearing to the southeast overnight Wednesday and into early Thursday.   

    Temperatures dropping to 8C (46F).

  3. Storm Desmond: More heavy rain forecast for Cumbria

    Rain already covering parts of Cumbria is expected to turn heavy later with further flooding "possible", residents have been warned.

    Forecasters predict 12 hours of rain but believe the effects will not be as severe as during Storm Desmond.

    Motorists have been warned not to move warning signs to cross closed bridges.

    The Environment Agency said it was closely monitoring river levels, and has issued one flood warning and 13 alerts for the Cumbria area.

  4. Clear-up in Keswick continues following Storm Desmond

    People in Keswick are doing their best to recover after the flooding brought by Storm Desmond.

    One of those affected is Lindsey Berry who's the resident manager at Lakeside House Bed and Breakfast.

    Her basement was flooded, as you can see from the picture below.

    She’s been working hard with friends and volunteers and the property is starting to look better.

    However, she has no idea when she and her two children will be able to move back in.

  5. Latest headlines: £50m fund for flood victims and warnings of travel disruption

     - George Osborne has announced a £50m fund for families and businesses hit by floods in Cumbria and Lancashire

    - Just over half of the 131 at-risk bridges have been inspected - with the rest due be completed today, according to Cumbria County Council

    - Police warn that surface water flooding and high winds could cause disruption on the roads later tonight

  6. Couple drive through floods to give birth to James Noah

    A baby has aptly been given the middle name Noah after his mother went into labour and started having contractions while being driven through floodwater to get to hospital.

    John Bibby, from Backbarrow, said the journey to Furness General Hospital with his wife was "fraught" and it was not the "calmest day".

    Both Mum and son - James Noah - are doing well.

  7. Army brings water bottles to stranded Glenridding villagers

    The Army brought supplies of water to the village of Glenridding - cut off from civilisation since Sunday following Storm Desmond.

    Villagers were left isolated for 72 hours without water or power after the beck burst its banks, flooding homes and shops.

    Pooley Bridge, one of the main access routes into the village, collapsed on Sunday. Witnesses described the water "jetting through" dry stone walling as it carried rubble in its path.

  9. Glenridding slowly getting back to normal after being cut off for 72 hours

    Glenridding is slowly getting back to normal after being cut off since Sunday when flooding and landslides blocked the roads.

    Storm Desmond brought an unprecedented amount of rainfall over 24 hours and the villagers were left without water or power after the Glenridding Beck burst its banks, flooding homes and shops.

  10. Pictures: Flooding recedes from Carlisle football ground

    Carlisle United's football ground was still submerged under water on Monday 7 December after the torrential rain brought by Storm Desmond over the weekend.

    However, as the bottom picture shows the floodwater had receded by the following day.

  11. Travel: More disruption expected this afternoon and tonight on the roads

    Cumbria Police are warning people to expect more road disruption due to anticipated surface water flooding and high winds this evening.

    It's expected this afternoon and tonight will see a further extended spell of consistent rainfall in the area.

    While the rainfall isn't going to be near the amount that fell over the weekend during Storm Desmond, it will be falling on already saturated ground and is likely to cause surface water flooding on minor roads across the county.

  12. 'Substantial amount of money' needed for school repairs

    A "substantial amount of money" is needed to repair some Cumbrian schools, county councillor Clare Feeney-Johnson, cabinet member for schools, says.

  13. Landslip in Ullswater reached two houses

    And the landslip we mentioned in Ullswater earlier (13:24) looks to have reached two houses at the bottom of the hills:

  14. Boat washed up in field is Ullswater Steamer

    A bit of detective work shows that boat is apparently one of the famous Ullswater Steamers.

    The company says Lady Wakefield was built in 1949 in Dartmouth by the River Dart Steamboat Co. Ltd, and worked on the River Dart and the Plymouth Sound before her arrival at Ullswater in 2007 where she was restored and renamed by Princess Alexandra.
