    Derby County have handed a lifetime ban to a supporter who mocked the death of Billy Sharp's son.

    The fan was tracked down by Rams officials after he tweeted abusive jibes at the Sheffield United striker when the sides met at the weekend.

    Sharp lost his son Luey Jacob just days after he was born in 2011.

    A statement from the Rams, external, who named the supporter as Jordan Byrne, said: "Byrne admitted that he was responsible for the posts which were published after Saturday's game at Bramall Lane.

    "While he apologised for his actions, Derby County stand firm that behaviour of this nature is entirely unacceptable and requires strong action.

    "Consequently, the club has imposed a lifetime ban on this individual which prevents him attending any Derby County games – home and away – with immediate effect."

    Residents in part of Nottingham claim their homes have been infested with rodents since building work began nearby.

    Houses have been demolished in Arkwright Street in The Meadows as part of a city council regeneration programme.

    Resident Maggie Newton told BBC Radio Nottingham: "If you settle down to watch telly you get mice running round you.

    "It is like a big problem, it is not just one or two houses."

    Nottingham City Council said it does not believe the works are necessarily to blame and the authority insists it is only dealing with complaints of mice and not rats.

    The trial of a man accused of abusing girls at his shop in Derby is due to hear from its first witnesses today.

    Dilan Amin, 27, denies a string of sex offences against girls, including one aged 12, between 2012 and 2017.

    Yesterday, the prosecution accused Amin of "preying on young vulnerable girls" who came to his convenience store in Pear Tree Road.

    He is charged with four rapes, inciting a child for prostitution, four sexual assaults, paying a child for sexual services and supplying a Class A drug.

    A driver had a lucky escape when their car smashed through a wall and stopped inches from a steep drop into Woodhead Reservoir.

    Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said no-one was injured in the crash, which happened shortly before 19:00 yesterday.

    Manu Tuilagi has the "right people around him" to make good choices this season, according to former Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill.

    The Samoa-born Leicester centre made headlines for the wrong reasons earlier this month when he was sent home early from an England training camp.

    "I honestly think for him [Tuilagi] it is about making good choices now," Cockerill told Matt Dawson's Rugby Show on BBC Radio 5 Live.

    Three men have been arrested following an armed robbery at a pub in Nottinghamshire, external.

    A helicopter and police dogs were deployed after a staff member was threatened with a knife at The Ferry Boat in Stoke Bardolph yesterday lunchtime. The attempted robbers left empty-handed.

    The three men, aged 38, 31 and 27, are being questioned on suspicion of robbery.

    • There is slow traffic on the M1 in Nottinghamshire near Stapleford between J24 and J25 following a stalled truck earlier this morning.
    • There was a similiar situation between J21 and J22 on the M1 near Braunstone Town in Leicester, the stalled vehicle has been cleared, but you should still leave extra time for your journey.
    • You are also being asked to leave extra time for your journey on Kingsway and Queensway in Derby, where there is queuing traffic.
