Shopkeeper Dilan Amin - who has been jailed for having sex with girls as young as 13 - was described by the judge as a "sexual predator".

In April he admitted four charges of sexual activity with a child with penetration, sexual assault of a child and sexual assault.

In September last year he was found guilty by a jury of three charges which were causing/inciting prostitution for gain, paying for sexual services of a girl between 13-15 years-old and the sexual assault of a child.

The judge who sentenced him at Derby Crown Court earlier said he was a sexual predator who "used the girls as objects before discarding them".

Derby charity Safe and Sound said it had been supporting Amin's victims throughout the case.

Senior crown prosecutor, Rebecca Edwards said Amin "exploited" the vulnerability of the girls and "manipulated them to do what he wanted".

She said the CPS's decision to pursue a retrial after the jury failed to return a verdict in Amin's first trial was made on the risk he posed to other children and young people.

    Amy Orton

Plans for a new 15 bed inpatient unit in Leicestershire for children with severe mental health issues have been submitted - making it the first of its kind in the county.

The unit will sit near to the Bradgate Mental Health Unit on the Glenfield Hospital site and is set to cost around £8m.

It will provide inpatient care for patients being treated by the Children Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and specialise in supporting young people with eating disorders, rather than them having to go outside the county for help.

Peter Miller, chief executive at the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, said: "It forms a significant part of our transformation plan for improving access to and support for our children and adolescent mental health services.

"Most importantly we will be able to offer local specialised inpatient eating disorder care for young people in the East Midlands."

If the plans are approved it is hoped work will be completed by March 2020.
