A man who said he wanted to kill an MP while wielding a knife at Nottingham City Council's headquarters has been jailed for 12 months.
Grant Smith, 49, of Murray Close, Bestwood, was drunk and holding a bottle of whisky when he entered Loxley House with a 9in (23cm) kitchen knife at about 10:00 on 8 January.
Police said Smith was reported to have held the knife in the air and shouted "slurred threats" before being arrested.
At Nottingham Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to having a blade in a public place, two counts of using threatening or abusive words and breaching a suspended sentence order.
Councillor Sam Webster said: “This was a very distressing incident for our staff at Loxley House, who should be able to carry out their work without being subjected to this kind of intimidating and frightening behaviour."
There is more dry, bright and settled weather on the way with a few showers around.
The cloud around this morning will gradually thin and break up, leaving plenty of sunshine later with highs of around 23C (73F).
Tonight the sunshine could turn hazy but it should be dry overnight with the odd isolated shower.

The boss of East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) says he is "pleased" crews are being issued with body-worn cameras in an effort to reduce attacks on staff.
The NHS plans to make the equipment available to all 10 of England's ambulance trusts by the end of this month following successful trials in London and the North East.
In 2020/21, EMAS staff reported 1,048 incidents of assault of a physical, verbal, sexual or racial nature - an increase of more than 300 compared to 2016/17.
Richard Henderson, EMAS chief executive, said: “Our colleagues come to work to help people in their hour of need, not to be abused or assaulted.
“We are pleased to see the funding of body-worn cameras by NHS England and look forward to rolling them out to frontline colleagues across our region.
“We hope these cameras will help to protect our colleagues when responding to patients by acting as a deterrent and de-escalating situations.
"In the disappointing event that a staff member experiences violence or aggression, we will have footage of the incident to assist in securing a successful prosecution of the offender.”
