    They want to find who is behind the killing of a cat, rabbit and fox over the last nine weeks.

    The first woman to be made a Church of England bishop has taken her seat in the House of Lords.

    The Right Reverend Libby Lane was elevated to the upper house after being installed as the Bishop of Derby in May.

    She sat between the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and the Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu as she swore the oath of allegiance to the Queen.

    As Bishop of Derby, she is one of the 26 senior members of the Church of England, known as the Lords Spiritual, entitled to sit on the red benches of the unelected house.

    She brings the total number of female bishops in the Lords to five.

    A fire has started on the ground floor of a disused factory in Coalville, Leicestershire.

    Firefighters said they have got the blaze under control after it broke out at 14:57.

    The smoke from the three-storey building can be seen across the town centre and has prompted a "large number of calls".

    The remains of a cannabis factory in the loft of a Nottinghamshire house were discovered after the building caught fire.

    Nottinghamshire Police said the electrics had been bypassed and the fire began in the loft in Anston Avenue, Worksop, yesterday afternoon.

    Police said inside, they found about 90 plants, but added the house was booby-trapped with a false floor and a "knife trap".

    One of Mike Ashley's chief lieutenants has quit Shirebrook-based Sports Direct after 28 years working for the retail tycoon.

    Karen Byers, whom the billionaire called the person who "runs Sports Direct", was described by insiders as the "glue that holds it all together".

    Her decision to leave with immediate effect was announced to senior store staff and area managers on Monday morning in a conference call, according to sources at the business.

    Mr Ashley told Press Association she would be welcome back if she ever wants to return.

    He said: "Karen has been a very supportive member of the team for over 28 years and we wish her well for the future."

    A Royal Mail worker from Ilkeston has described the "surreal" moment she had a voice cameo in the new Toy Story 4 film and then attended the film premiere in London.

    Ros Bedall, 53, won a BBC Radio 2 competition to star in the Disney/Pixar film as a talking robot.

    "I got all the VIP treatment. It was bonkers," she said. "All I had to do was say a few words and speak like a robot.

    "I've told Disney I'm available for any parts they want to offer me in the future."

    Mrs Beddall and husband Gary graced the red carpet for the premiere in London but she regrets not speaking to actor Tom Hanks.

    "He walked straight past me and if I had just asked he probably would've had a quick selfie," she said.

    East Midlands Ambulance Service has said two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash on the A47 in Rutland.

    A spokeswoman said they were called shortly before 08:15 to reports of a crash between a car and van.

    She said the injured pair were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

    Two others suffered minor injuries and were taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

    Police have shut the A47 between Glaston and Morcott, Rutland, because of a "serious accident" between two vehicles.

    Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at about 08:50 to a "head-on collision".

    It said four people were injured, with one man cut free from a vehicle.

    Police have advised motorists to avoid the area and diversions are in place.

    A convicted burglar and thief has absconded from HMP Sudbury.

    Nathan Richardson was seen leaving the Derbyshire prison at about 13:00 yesterday before getting into a black BMW and driving off towards Ashbourne.

    Police said the 35-year-old, who was jailed for three-and-a-half years last April, also has links to Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

    Richardson has a tattoo saying "Kyan" on the right-hand side of his neck, "Leanne" written on his left wrist and "Danielle" on his right leg.

    Derbyshire police asked people not to approach him but to call them if he is spotted.
