A new electric bike scheme is being trialed in Nottingham after the city council secured £50,000 of government funding.
The eCargo bikes are designed to be a zero-emission way of moving loads around.
Other advantages are thought to include taking up less space than a van or truck and having health benefits for users.
The small fleet will first be trialled by the authority to replace journeys around the city currently done by petrol or diesel vehicles.
Later this year they will be made available to organisations like Sustrans, Nottingham Bikeworks, Ridewise and the two universities.
Local businesses will also be able to use them via the Workplace Travel Service (WTS).

JCB has reached an agreement on more flexible working arrangements designed to safeguard up to 915 jobs.
The company said negotiations with the GMB union would help hourly-paid shop floor workers across its UK operations, though it expects disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic to continue.
A ballot of GMB members will be held next week on the new temporary collective agreement at JCB's factories in Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Wrexham.
Last week JCB announced up to 950 salaried staff were at risk of losing their jobs, and more than 2,000 employees have now returned to work as factories resume production.
Promotion and relegation will remain in the English Football League if seasons are ended amid the coronavirus crisis.

A man who coughed into the face of three police officers and claimed to have Covid-19 has been jailed for nine months.
It happened as the officers arrived to detain Rory McIntyre in Carrington, Nottingham, after he had earlier kicked a woman in the back when she refused to give him money and smashed a car window with a piece of wood.
The 38-year-old, of Sherbrooke Road, Carrington, pleaded guilty to common assault, threatening a person with an offensive weapon and three counts of common assault on an emergency worker at Nottingham Crown Court.
PC Kulwinder Bazaz, who led the investigation, said: "Violence against anyone is abhorrent, but targeting key workers who are the very people on the front line of dealing with the coronavirus outbreak is a particularly mindless act that puts not only those individuals at risk but also their families, too."

Nottinghamshire cricketer Stuart Broad has been giving an insight into the protocols England players face as they return to individual training.
Broad was one of the England bowlers who was selected for individual sessions as players look to get in shape for a proposed behind-closed-doors series with the West Indies in July.
Broad chronicled his return to Trent Bridge through his Instagram story, where he showed himself taking his temperature with a digital thermometer at home before uploading the result to an app.
Once at Nottinghamshire's ground he was given a designated parking space and directed straight to the pitch.
There he bowled on a wicket on his own, with a physiotherapist there to provide support.
Broad was allowed into the pavilion for a toilet break and was given his own designated toilet, revealing he had to use the ladies' room.
Up to 18 bowlers will take part in individual training sessions across seven county grounds.
The Lady Chatterley's Lover author wrote to his girlfriend from a guest house in Blackpool.

Forestry England is appealing to its visitors to "respect and protect" sites after litter was found disposed of in Nottinghamshire woodland.
It said visitor numbers to Sherwood Pines were increasing daily, despite most of the facilities remaining closed.
There are also limited staff members to care for and maintain the forests, Forestry England added.
A spokesman said: "Clearly this is unacceptable behaviour and we are appealing to everyone to please respect and protect our forests by taking your litter home during these challenging times."
