A new walk-through coronavirus testing facility has opened in London Road car park in Coalville.

The testing site is expected to remain in the town for at least three months.

It will be open from 08:00 to 20:00 everyday but only those with an appointment can attend.

The Department of Health and Social Care is asking for people to make appointments only if a person is experiencing symptoms of coronavirus.

Those visiting the site will be expected to social distance, observe good personal hygiene and wear a face covering.

North West Leicestershire District Council said: "Having a testing centre in Coalville is of huge benefit to the town, meaning people don’t have to travel large distances to get a test.

"In the long-run this will encourage more local people to get tested when they show symptoms, helping us to track the virus and keep cases down in North West Leicestershire."

Police have put a dispersal order in place in part of Nottingham after bricks and fireworks were thrown at emergency services workers this week.

On Wednesday, firefighters and police attending reports of a moped fire in Top Valley were targeted by people throwing stones. One of the officers had their thumb broken as a result, police said.

Officers patrolling the area after reports of illegal parties and anti-social behaviour had fireworks and bricks thrown at them, the force said.

The dispersal order - which covers part of Top Valley within the red line on the map below - means police can order people causing or suspected of causing anti-social behaviour to leave the area for 48 hours. It ends at 16:00 today.

Sgt Oliver Vale, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Any attack on anyone should never be tolerated but to attack officers or other key workers in the line of duty is particularly appalling."

Matt Reavill from Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service said it was "unacceptable".

A group of 14 who tried to hide from police while having "a last blowout before lockdown" have been fined.

The group were first approached by council officers at around 23:15 last night at a house in Gloucester Avenue, Lenton and advised to break up the party.

Nottinghamshire Police said they were called at 23:30. Party-goers argued they were not breaking any rules and were attending their last party before the second lockdown.

The force said officers attended four other parties in Lenton last night but did not issue further fines.

Neighbourhood inspector Amy English, said: “The guidelines have prohibited different households in Nottinghamshire from mixing indoors for some time now, so there was no excuse to have a party.

“These party-goers were given ample opportunity to stop the gathering but they refused to do so. They even went so far as to try to hide from officers when they arrived – which shows they were well aware they were doing something wrong."

  16. Second outbound lane to reopen on A52 Clifton Bridgepublished at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2020

    Amy Woodfield
    BBC News

A second lane of a city bridge that caused "traffic chaos" when it closed is due to reopen by Monday morning, Highways England has said.

Work to repair damage to the structure of the A52 Clifton Bridge has been ongoing for much of the year.

    Traffic on Clifton Bridge

Catherine Brookes, from Highways England, said she believed the lane opening would, "make a huge and positive difference to the traffic and congestion in the area".

The bridge initially closed when a problem was discovered with one of three steel box girders that runs underneath it, but an investigation uncovered more problems.

Ms Brookes said this work was "less critical" and "could wait" but a decision was made to get the work done now to avoid further disruption in the coming years.

It's hoped another lane will be reopened in the new year but work on the bridge is expected to continue until at least next summer.
