Party-goers breaking lockdown rules are putting members of the public at risk, police have warned.

The warning comes as bodycam footage was released showing an officer breaking up a party in St Ann's Hill, Nottingham, last month.

The officer explains: "I've got family to think about. I have to come addresses like this and put my own safety at risk, put my children's safety at risk and I don't appreciate it."

The organiser of the party was fined £200. Insp Amy English said officers were used to facing danger.

"However, the fact that we are having to put our families at risk as a result of people partying is totally unnecessary and quite frankly it is unacceptable," she said.

"We do not get to pick and choose the laws we impose. We have to respond to concerns from members of the public and at the moment, gatherings are illegal."

The footage also shows people fleeing a party in Talbot Street on 25 October. About 100 people left the party at a flat and an investigation is under way to establish who the organiser was.

Police also fined a student £200 at a party in North Church Street last night after more than 10 people were found to be in a house.

A wind turbine in Leicestershire has been lit up in tribute to fallen soldiers ahead of Remembrance Day.

The 125m-high structure at Swinford Wind Farm had an image of a poppy projected across its blades, with a cascade of poppies running down its tower.

Energy company Vattenfall, who transformed the turbine, is aiming to raise £10,000 for the Royal British Legion as normal fundraising efforts are hampered by coronavirus and the England-wide lockdown that came into force today.

No-one in Nottingham has paid a £10,000 fine for breaching coronavirus restrictions, the county's police and crime commissioner has said.

In a statement, he said: "No-one in Nottingham has paid the £10,000 fine and to my knowledge no-one nationally.

"I also understand that around 50% of those with £200 fixed penalty notices have yet to pay.

"People will be taken to our already overstretched courts for them to decide whether to enforce the fine. I think it is questionable whether the £10,000 fines will ever be collected and so I've asked the government to set up special 'fine collection' courts."

The government has been contacted for comment.
